The State of the Union 2012 Predictions

Americans watching tonight's State of the Union address will likely walkaway thinking things in this country are absolutely great after hearing President Obama's speech, that is until they return to their daily lives and see the truth at the gas pump, on their grocery receipt, and in the unemployment lines. President Obama is poised to take credit for a whole host of fictional economic data and even some policies he had nothing to do with.

What he'll say: "Under my presidency, the economy has added 3.2 million new private sector jobs."

The Truth: When Obama took office the unemployment rate was 7.7%. Today, the unemployment rate is 8.5% having reached a high of 10.2% after congress passed a $1 trillion dollar stimulus package the President said would insure the unemployment rate never surpassed 8%. If the workforce or the number of people who were working or looking for employment were the same today as it was when Obama took office, the real unemployment rate would be 10.9%.

What he'll say: "I've agreed to cut $2 trillion dollars from the deficit."

The Truth: When Bush took office, the national debt was $5.73 trillion. When he left, it was $10.7 trillion. That's a difference of $4.97 trillion in 8 years. When Obama took office, the national debt was $10.7 trillion, today it is $15.2 trillion. That's a difference of $4.5 trillion in just 3 years and just a couple of weeks ago Obama asked for another $1.2 trillion.

What he'll say: "Thanks to me, American oil production is the highest it’s been in eight years."

The Truth: The House Natural Resources Committee reports the Obama administration is attempting to take credit for policies enacted under his predecessor [1]. In fact, the number of onshore oil leases granted by the Obama administration is the lowest it's been in over two decades. As for offshore drilling in the gulf, thanks to a moratorium put into affect by the Obama administration oil production fell by 300,000 barrels per day, a total projected decline of more than 120 million barrels of oil through 2012. On top of that, President Obama killed the Keystone pipeline project which would have further lessened the country's dependence on foreign oil and created more than 20,000 high paying, mostly union jobs and an estimated 100,000 new spin-off jobs.

What he'll say: "My foreign policy is a success. For the first time in nine years, there are no Americans fighting in Iraq."

The Truth: In August, 2008, then President George W. Bush and Iraqi negotiators agreed to a complete withdrawal of all U.S. combat troops by the end of 2011 [2]. Still, more than 16,000 Americans remain in Iraq, a number which includes troops, security contractors, and State Department workers.

What he'll say: "What’s at stake is the very survival of the basic American promise that if you work hard, you can do well enough to raise a family, own a home, and put a little away for retirement."

The Truth: There has never been an "American promise". The American Dream is the idea that every American has the CHANCE to achieve success and prosperity. In the United States no one is entitled to a home, a retirement, or anything else they haven't earned through the sweat equity of their labor. In fact, under President Obama the American Dream is becoming even harder to attain. Price of gas has jumped 83%, ground beef 24%, and bacon 22% just to name a few of the everyday expenses the average American is struggling to afford under Obama's America which has seen a record number of Americans become dependent on welfare programs like food stamps just to get by [3].

Unfortunately for us, the State of our Union is anything but strong.

Newt’s Waterloo

By calling for a watered down version of amnesty, Newt reminded conservatives last night why he is not the right man for the job. Up until then he had done a good job of convincing people to forget he is a man of low moral character, decidedly non-constitutional, and an embracer of establishment Republican policies that are bad for this country. In a state like Iowa, that has been hard hit by illegal immigration, Newt killed any chance he has of taking the state.

Many Newt supporters will try and say that what Newt is calling for is not amnesty, that it is compassion. Conservatives understand how difficult it will be on families if someone's parents or grandparents are deported. But it is important to remember that these people broke the law. They knowingly took the risk of deportation and breaking up their families to come here in the hopes of benefitting from our welfare state and higher wages.

If those people are deported, they must look to themselves to blame for breaking up their family. By offering them a chance to remain here legally, you only encourage further illegal immigration. You tell the world's poor that if you can get here, if you can remain hidden long enough, have a few kids, join a church, you are home free.

It's no different than the signals we send the world with regards to nuclear weapons. We go on and on about not letting countries like Iran have nukes. But once they do get a nuke, like N. Korea, we leave them alone. Meanwhile, when countries like Libya come forward and say they want to work with the US, open up their doors to inspectors, and disband all efforts to get nukes, we reward them by invading their country and overthrowing their government a few years later.

The world has lost faith in our government. We rarely stand behind our word and we refuse to enforce our immigration laws. We've become a joke. Newt's plan simply reinforce that perception.

The JFK Assassination: 48 Years Later and We’re Still Asking Why?

On Nov 22, 1963, President Kennedy was assassinated. "Why? The how and the who is just scenery for the public... keeps 'em guessing to prevent them from asking the real question, why?" Lines made famous by X, one of the characters in Oliver Stones’ film JFK are just as relevant today as they were in 1963.

Why was Kennedy assassinated? A better question might be why all the efforts to keep Oswald's communist connections suppressed while perpetuating proven false conspiracy claims about magic bullets and grassy knolls?

Lee Harvey Oswald was a self proclaimed Marxist. At the age of 16 he contacted the Socialist Party of America. In Oct. 1959, he defected to the Soviet Union. In April 1963, Oswald opened a New Orleans branch of the Fair Play for Cuba Committee and granted two honorary memberships to Gus Hall and Benjamin Davis, senior members of the American Communist Party. Prior to assassinating President Kennedy, Oswald planned and attempted to carry out a failed assassination plot against Major General Edwin Walker, an out spoken critic of organized labor and rabid anti-communist. Recently released CIA documents concerning LCIMPROVE detail Oswald's involvement with Soviets in an effort to out American intelligence officers.

Oswald was one of the most successful members or a long line of socialist/communist traitors that have been attacking this country from within for more than a hundred years, attacks that began in April 1919.

In April 1919 at least 36 mail bombs were sent to a supreme court justice, the governor of Mississippi, the US Attorney General, the Postmaster General, congressmen, senators, other justice officials, newspapers, and businessmen like John D Rockefeller and JP Morgan. The bombs were sent by a group of Bolshevik communist members of the organized labor movement and were intended to be delivered and detonated on May 1st, a day celebrated as an international day of socialist revolution.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union, Americans have been less vigilant towards the spread of communism. Today we have self-proclaimed socialists like Congressmen Rev. Emmanuel Cleaver (D-MO) serving in the federal government. Even our educational system is overrun by socialists who teach our children that capitalism is evil.

On this, the 48th anniversary or the assassination of President John F Kennedy, it is more important than ever to recognize that the very real socialist threat to the American way of life still exists and is growing ever more influential.

The Separation of Church and State Myth: Part 3 – Devine Providence and the Great Seal of the United States

On September 6, 1774, a motion was made for the first Continental Congress to begin the next day’s meeting with a prayer. A handle full of objections were made. Samuel Adams arose and said according to John Adams’ diaries, “I am no bigot, and could hear a Prayer from any gentleman of Piety and virtue, who was at the same time a friend to his Country.”

As John Adams further noted in his diaries, the objections to the prayer were made not for belief that religion had no place in government, but because not all in attendance were of the same faith. “[W]e were so divided in religious sentiments -- some were Episcopalians, some Quakers, some Anabaptists, some Presbyterians, and some Congregationalists.”

As a result of Sam Adams’ declaration the motion carried. “Resolved, that the Rev. Mr. Duché be desired to open Congress tomorrow morning with prayer, at Carpenter's hall, at nine o'clock.”

On September 7, 1774, the first Continental Congress opened with the follow devotion:

"O Lord! our heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of kings, and Lord of lords, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers on earth, and reignest with power supreme and uncontrolled over all kingdoms, empires, and governments. Look down in mercy, we beseech thee, on these our American States who have fled to thee from the rod of the oppressor, and thrown themselves on thy gracious protection, desiring to be henceforth dependent only on thee … All this we ask in the name, and through the merits of Jesus Christ thy Son and our Savior. Amen"

It would take nearly two years for that same Congress to declare our independence from Britain. “We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States [emphasis added].”

The founding fathers believed that they had been called to a higher purpose by God, that Devine providence guided their labors in creating this new country. Benjamin Franklin spoke of this before the Continental Congress.

"We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that 'except the Lord build the House they labor in vain who build it.' I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring Aid, we shall succeed in this political Building no better than the Builders of Babel"

While serving on the first committee, Benjamin Franklin suggested in August 1776, a scene from Exodus be used for the reverse side of the Great Seal of the United States:

Pharaoh sitting in an open Chariot, a Crown on his head and a Sword in his hand, passing through the divided Waters of the Red Sea in Pursuit of the Israelites: Rays from a Pillar of Fire in the Cloud, expressive of the divine Presence and Command, beaming on Moses who stands on the shore and extending his hand over the Sea causes it to overwhelm Pharaoh.

Along with the imagery from Exodus (pictured above), Franklin suggested the motto, “Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God,” be inscribed with it. Even though Franklin’s suggestion was recommended by the committee it was not used on the final version. However, Thomas Jefferson became so enamored with it that he took the motto for his own private seal (pictured below).

It is believed that Franklin’s motto inspired the motto that ultimately became selected for the Great Seal, “Annuit Coeptis,” or God has favored our undertakings.

The Separation of Church and State Myth: Part 2 – Jefferson’s Church in the U.S. Capitol

It comes to many as a great surprise when they discover that the U.S. Capitol doubled as a church each Sunday from the end of 1800 until after the Civil War. It’s a further shock to the system when they discover that it was Thomas Jefferson himself that gave approval to use the building as a church. He even attended church services there regularly during his administration.

On December 4, then Vice-President and President of the Senate Thomas Jefferson joined with Speaker of the House Theodore Sedgwick to give approval for the capitol building to be used as a church. At the time, Thomas Jefferson was also the President-Elect.

In fact, he arrived in the same manner to worship at the capitol church just two days after he wrote the now infamous letter that contained the “wall of separation of church and state” language that many anti-religious groups try and hold up as proof the founding fathers wanted a government free from any kind of religiosity.

Washington insider and social critic Margaret Bayard Smith wrote of Jefferson’s attendance at the Capitol Church, "Jefferson during his whole administration was a most regular attendant. The seat he chose the first day sabbath [sic], and the adjoining one, which his private secretary occupied, were ever afterwards by the courtesy of the congregation, left for him."

Other presidents also worshipped at the U.S. Capitol, including Madison, John Quincy Adams, and Abraham Lincoln. President James Madison, author of the Bill of Rights, during his administration would arrive at the Capitol to worship each Sunday via a horse drawn carriage.

Throughout the following decades the US Capitol was used as a church for many denominations. The first Catholic service was held on January 8, 1826. The first woman to preach in the church was Dorothy Ripley who did so on January 12, 1806. On February 12, 1865 Henry Highland Garnet became the first black person to preach a sermon at the Capitol.

Other federal buildings were also used at the time to hold services. The Treasury Building once housed a four hour communion service in 1804 and also served as the regular church for several denominations. In his diary, President John Quincy Adams wrote about a church service preached before an overflow audience in the Supreme Court Chamber. The First Congressional Church met in the Hall of Representatives from 1865 to 1868 where more than 2000 worshipers recognized the Sabbath each week, making it the largest Protestant audience in the United States at the time.

The Separation of Church and State Myth: Part 1 – The Aitken Bible

While you are not likely to find accounts of the Aitken Bible in your history books, the very real existence of it provides a little insight into how the founders of the United States viewed the so-called separation of church and state.

In 1782, the Continental Congress of the United States authorized the printing of 10,000 copies of the first English edition of the Bible printed in America. In authorizing Robert Aitken to print his version of the Holy Bible they also granted him the authority to print the following recommendation from Congress.

Whereupon,
RESOLVED,
THAT the United States in Congress assembled highly approve the pious and laudable undertaking of Mr. Aitken, as subservient to the interest of religion, as well as an instance of the progress of arts in this country, and being satisfied from the above report of his care and accuracy in the execution of the work, they recommend this edition of the Bible to the inhabitants of the United States, and hereby authorize him to publish this Recommendation in the manner he shall think proper [emphasis added].

To understand the origins of the Aitken Bible we have to go back to 1777. With supplies of Bibles in the US being cut off by the British, the Continental Congress began searching for ways to find alternative sources. Two motions were presented before the congress to import Bibles from other countries. Neither motion succeeded.

Sensing an opportunity, a printer by the name of Robert Aitken who was already printing copies of the Journals of Congress produced his own version of the Holy Scripture. He presented his version to congress in 1781 along with his petition asking them to inspect and authorize his work.

On September 12, 1782, Congress granted Aitken their authorization to print his version of the Bible. At the same time Congress provided their recommendation of the Aitken Bible to those living in the United States.

Unfortunately for Aitken, his Bible was a commercial failure. He later petitioned congress to purchase the remaining supply and distribute them to soldiers. The new petition was denied.

What the Herman Cain Sexual Harassment Story Reveals About the State of American Journalism

Lippmann and Dewey argued over what they believed the role of journalism was in American society. After reading and listening to the coverage of allegations of sexual harassment by GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, one can’t help but wonder what they would think of the state of journalism today.

According to the book The Elements of Journalism there are nine elements that must be followed by journalist in order to fulfill their duties. These are:

Journalism's first obligation is to the truth.
Its first loyalty is to the citizens.
Its essence is discipline of verification.
Its practitioners must maintain an independence from those they cover.
It must serve as an independent monitor of power.
It must provide a forum for public criticism and compromise.
It must strive to make the news significant, interesting, and relevant.
It must keep the news comprehensive and proportional.
Its practitioners must be allowed to exercise their personal conscience.

Knowing that the first element of journalism is truth and that in order to supply the truth a journalist must verify their sources because providing false information would be detrimental to the public, how can anyone label the coverage of this sexual harassment scandal as journalism?

First, Politico provides us with anonymous allegations about alleged acts that were not overtly sexual in nature but offended the anonymous accusers just the same. Politico reports each received a settlement in the five figure range, but refuses to elaborate on any specifics of the allegations. Then the Associated Press treats us to more claims from another anonymous accuser who states she was going to file a complaint with Cain’s employer but decided not to because the two other women above were pursuing claims against him at the time.

Then comes Sharon Bailek along side her attorney Gloria Allred who has a long past of representing opportunists like those that jumped on the train of women Tiger Woods had affairs with or those who were offended by a professional baseball coach’s use of a bat in a lewd way. Together, they spent the next 12 hours making the rounds on all the major talk shows. No doubt, Allred is already busy shopping around her client’s book deal. Finally, CNN treated us to yet one more anonymous account of sexual harassment, but this anonymous account doesn’t comes from the accuser, but from the anonymous friend of the anonymous accuser.

Let’s go back to the first accusers. Politico saw fit to run with a story sourced anonymously and has refused to provide any specifics under claims that the women involved signed non-disclosure agreements with their employer. But why didn’t Politico, who admittedly knows the identity of these two women, investigate them at all? Anyone can make an allegation, as we saw when Larry Sinclair accused then candidate Barack Obama of a homosexual relationship. In that story the media thoroughly investigated Larry Sinclair and found him not to be a credible source and dropped the story before it ever began. In Cain’s case, Politico appears to not have done any investigation of the two women what-so-ever, because had they done so, they would have no doubt uncovered the fact that one of them has a history of shaking down her employer’s for quick settlements.

Karen Kraushaar, who was labeled by Politico as, “very reliable,” was outted by the blog The Daily. Only after Ms Kraushaar’s identity was revealed did the AP release details about her past settlements with other employers.

It should also be noted that the National Restaurant Association, the company that settled with Cain’s anonymous accusers, has released the women from the duties of their non-disclosure agreement. Even though they are now free to talk, they have still refused to elaborate on their claims.

When we look at the one accuser of Cain’s who did come forward publically, Sharon Bailek, we see again the media committing journalistic malpractice as they giver her every possible outlet to tell her story, but not once do they investigate it. Only after numerous media reports were out did we start hearing about eye witness accounts that directly contradicted Sharon Bailek’s claims.

Herman Cain even held a press conference on the claims made by Bailek where he flat out denied the allegations and vowed to take a lie detector test. To date, none of Cain’s accusers have been willing to submit to the same lie detector test.

Because the “journalists” covering this story willfully withheld information or flat out refused to investigate their sources they have left the public with only two possible beliefs. Either Herman Cain systematically sexually abused women for a brief period in the middle of his adult life, never before nor after, or the allegations are completely false.

Now knowing the nine elements of journalism, we can’t help but ask why Politico, the AP, and CNN did not investigate the sources of their stories? Did they offer their sources a chance to take a polygraph? If so, what were the results? When did the AP know about Karen Kraushaar’s history of settlements with her employers? Why did they wait so long to report it? Why hasn’t the media asked Bailek to take a lie detector? Why haven’t they asked her if she is shopping around a book deal or if she will take a vow not to profit from her story in anyway?

They haven’t done any of these things because the state of journalism in America is dead. Journalists today are more concerned with their exclusive than they are with the truth. The big problem with that is that the very people journalists claim to help are the very ones being hurt, the American people.

Barack Obama accused by two men of inappropriate behavior

During Barack Obama’s tenure as the president of the Harvard Law Review in the late 1980s, at least two male student editors complained to colleagues and senior university officials about inappropriate behavior by Obama, ultimately leaving their positions at the journal, multiple sources confirm to THE KANSAS CITIAN.

The men complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Obama that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the university that gave them financial payouts to leave the journal. The agreements also included language that bars the men from talking about their departures.

In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Obama and his administration repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the journal. They have also declined to address questions about specific reporting confirming that there were financial settlements in two cases in which men leveled complaints.

THE KANSAS CITIAN has confirmed the identities of the two male journal editors who complained about Obama but, for privacy concerns, is not publishing their names.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told THE KANSAS CITIAN the president indicated to White House staff that he was “vaguely familiar” with the charges and that the university’s general counsel had resolved the matter.

Obama was president of the Harvard Law Review from late-1988 to mid-1989. THE KANSAS CITIAN learned of the allegations against him, and over the course of several weeks, has put together accounts of what happened by talking to a lengthy roster of former university officials, current and past students and others familiar with the workings of the journal at the time Obama was there.

In one case, THE KANSAS CITIAN has seen documentation describing the allegations and showing that the university formally resolved the matter. Both men received separation packages that were in the five-figure range.

On the details of Obama’s allegedly inappropriate behavior with the two men, THE KANSAS CITIAN has a half-dozen sources shedding light on different aspects of the complaints.

The sources — including the recollections of close associates and other documentation — describe episodes that left the men upset and offended. These incidents include conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature, taking place at hotels during conferences, at other officially sanctioned journal events and at the journal’s offices. There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made men who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship.

The AP:

A third former editor says he considered filing a workplace complaint over what he considered aggressive and unwanted behavior by Barack Obama when he worked under the president in the 1991 at the University of Chicago. He says the behavior included a private invitation to his apartment.

He worked for the University of Chicago when he was a Visiting Law and Government Fellow. He told The Associated Press that Obama made sexually suggestive remarks or gestures about the same time that the two editors of the Harvard Law Review had settled separate harassment complaints against him. The employee described situations in which he said Obama told him he had confided to colleagues how attractive he was and invited him to his apartment outside work. He spoke on condition of anonymity, saying he feared retaliation. The White House declined to comment.

Ever since Democrats took to blaming the “rich” and “Wall Street” for the economic collapse their social engineering policies created some members of our community have watched nervously because this isn’t the first time a political party has used them as the target of propaganda. Many worry their fears maybe coming reality.

It was announced earlier this week by organizers of the Occupy Wall Street movement that today they plan on marching on the homes of several well-known and prominent New York Jewish businessmen.

The list includes:

Rupert Murdoch
David Koch
Howard Milstein
John Paulson
Jamie Dimon

Many in the media and some prominent Democrats have embraced the Occupy Wall Street movement with open arms despite its controversial message. Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said, “I support the message.”

Even President Obama has embraced the hate filled marches, “the protesters are giving voice to a more broad-based frustration.”

Occupy Wall Street protestors have yet to become violent towards the targets of their hatred, but they have been violent with police, caused property damage, and over a thousand arrests have been made. When comparing their behavior to that of Tea Party protestors over the last few years, who took to the streets in the millions across the country and yet no arrests were made, no violence carried out, and no property being damaged, you can see why many in the Jewish community worry that organizers of the Occupy Wall Street protests may have crossed the line by urging these mobs to march on their homes.

Editorial note: While all of the above people being targeted are considered to be Jewish by most people, there is some debate of Rupert Murdoch, whose grandmother was Jewish and Jamie Dimon whose wife and daughter are Jewish.

So let me get this correct. Gay marriage, an issue that affects barely one half of one percent, is the civil rights issue of our time? Give me a break.

For those keeping score at home, gay marriage has been put up for a vote 31 times across the country and passed zero times.

A Story of Hope or Despair?

On the surface this story about a Church’s Chicken employee who was severely burned by grease when a car crashed into the building sounds like a story of hope, but if you look a little closer you’ll find a story that accentuates everything that is wrong with our society.

According to police, a 75 year old woman jumped the curb and smashed her car into the building, hitting with enough force to crack the wall. This raises the first problem, respect for our elders. Sure, we should respect our elders, but we also should stop providing drivers licenses to the elderly people who have no business being on the road.

The second issue is the Church’s franchise itself. It is owned by an Indian immigrant couple who no doubt took out an SBA loan to purchase the facility and pay the franchise fees. The problem here is being new immigrants they likely did not have the collateral or funds to qualify for a million dollar plus loan, but since the SBA programs provide government guaranteed loans to minorities that they do not provide to other Americans who may not have the assets to use a collateral but may otherwise have pristine credit histories. it was no problem for them to purchase the franchise.

The third problem is this new business owner now needs to staff his business, but instead of hiring and out of work US citizen or teenagers, he hires an illegal immigrant who he can pay far less and pay under the table avoiding taxes, workers compensation, and other insurance.

The fourth problem arose when the accident happened. Not being covered by workers comp, the cost for treating the severely burned illegal immigrant fell to the KU Med Center and tax payers.

I spent last night in the mind of a serial killer. I might be ashamed to admit it had it been an isolated incident, but there is just something about Dexter Morgan that I just can’t get enough of. Thankfully author Jeff Lindsay has seen fit to feed my addiction with Double Dexter, his latest novel in the series featuring America’s favorite serial killer.

Fans of the novels and the Showtime television series Dexter, which is based off Lindsay’s books, will be delighted with Double Dexter. Lindsay grabs our attention from page one as the story opens on Dexter skulking in the rain awaiting his next victim. But unlike Dexter’s previous forays into murder something goes awry. All the careful planning, the precision with which he disposes of his victim is all for not when Dexter hears a door slam shut and a car tear off down the street. He’s been seen.

When the hammer of justice fails to come crashing down on Deeply Disturbed Dexter he can’t help but see ghosts around every corner and that is just where the story begins.

After having his forgery theories fully debunked by yours truly, Karl Denniger, AKA the Market Ticker, is back with more “evidence” the Obama long firm birth certificate released by the White House is a forgery. And once again, his evidence is backed by an incorrect analysis of the typography in the document.

His case:

The page portion here is curved as it is allegedly "scanned" from a book page. The curvature is consistent with both the margin lines and the printed word "Sex."

The typed word Male shows no curvature in the baseline of the text; this is physically impossible if the word "Male" was originally printed upon the same page that was scanned. Worse, the entire hospital name is straight while the text of the caption is properly curved at the margin - but not elsewhere.

Everyone has tried to explain away the various "coincidences." But for this to have happened "coincidentally" the typewriter would have had to curve the text it was typing.

His “smoking gun”:

Now let’s take a look at why anyone with even the least bit of graphic knowledge can clearly see his analysis is not only wrong, but how he appears to be deliberately disseminating misinformation to his readers.

Lets take his first claim, “the typed work Male shows no curvature,” but wait, if his photo shows no curvature, then why does the letter M break the guidelines he drew on his photo across the top and only one leg touches the bottom guideline?

The answer is a simple one, because the letter is being curved. To illustrate this take a look at his original photo with guides on the word “Male” and our photo showing guides drawn at the letter level. You will notice the rotation from letter to letter as you go through the word making the curvature clearly visible.

When I pointed out the fallacy of his argument to Denniger you can guess what he did next? That’s right, he banned me from his blog claiming I’m an Obot stumping for Obama (obviously he doesn’t know me to well). He posted this reply thinking I would not be able to see or respond to it:

That's off "Kapiolani" and shows that the letter is properly curved off the top, right?

Uh, wrong:

You have to work off the character baseline; anyone who knows anything about typewriter typography knows this, as well as the fact that typewriters also had descenders on some letters (most-notably on lower case "g", "p" and "y")
If you know the typewriter was a "basket" (sometimes called a "bow") unit with hammers mounted on spring steel if you find low capital letter strikes or high lower case ones your eyebrows should go up; capitals will always mis-strike high on such a unit and lower case letters will always mis-strike low. The latter, if it occurs not in immediate conjunction with a capital, is extremely suspicious as well.

This is twice you're run utter, complete and intentional crap, and that exceeds my tolerance.

Scratch another Obot.

At first I thought Denniger just had blinders on when it came to the evidence I presented him that suggested his original analysis of the link layer theory was mistaken, so now when he correctly states, “[y]ou have to work off the character baseline,” with regards to determining if the characters show signs of rotation, I can only surmise the reason he is ignoring the clearly visible fact that the bottom of the left leg in the letter “K” intersects the baseline in his example while the right leg doesn’t is because he wants to deliberately misrepresent the facts.

Lets take a look at his example and the proper baseline of the letter “K” (Apparently he has taken this example from the AP version of the long firm birth certificate and not the white house version, likely because the white house version much more clearly shows the rotation):

Market-Ticker, a blog run by a former ISP owner and which claims to contain “commentary on capital markets” has been going batshit crazy trying to defend his “expert” theory that the Long Form Birth Certificate released by the White House last week is a forgery. You can view his “evidence” in the following video:

Now let’s get back to reality and address his evidence.

First, he claims when you open the PDF file (you can download it here) in Adobe Illustrator and view the link layers you will see a list of multiple link layers in the file. The basis of his argument is that if you scan in a document and save it as a PDF it will have no layers to it at all so the only explanation for their existence is if someone manually added them while creating the document. This simply is not true.

In order to create smaller, faster loading PDF’s Adobe Acrobat and other PDF tools use a process known as MRC compression to identify text, separating it from the background, and saving the text as new vector layers of black pixels. Vector layers are essentially mathematical formulas for where a program should draw pixels on your screen to form an image. The benefit of using vectors is it allows scaling of image data quickly while retaining quality within a much smaller file size. The background of the original document is retained as a single jpeg layer in the new optimized PDF because vector layers are incapable of saving the voluminous amount of data required to render images with 16 million colors or more.

After I explained the technical reasons why the link layers were created Tickerguy held on to monochromatic aberrations in the layers of the White House version of the birth certificate as the foundation for concluding the document is a forgery. But again this is fallacy.

Here are the simple steps one needs to take to scan and create an optimized PDF which will not only contain link layers, but will have monochromatic aberrations within the text layers:

Scan a document and save it as a jpg image.
Open Adobe Acrobat and select create PDF from file. Then browse to and select the image you just scanned in the previous step.
Its time to optimize the document. Click the Document menu and go to OCR text recognition->recognize text using OCR... then click “OK”.
Again lets click on the Document menu, this time select Optimize scanned PDF. Move the size slider to small size then click “OK”.
Finally, save your PDF.

That’s it, that’s all you have to do. Feel free to duplicate and test at home.

Georgia Passes AZ-Style Immigration Bill

Arguing that the federal government has not done enough to protect the country’s borders, Georgia on Thursday followed Arizona’s lead in passing tough legislation aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration.

Both chambers of the state legislature passed a bill modeled on Arizona’s controversial immigration law, requiring businesses to confirm that new hires are legally eligible to work in the United States and authorizing police to check the immigration status of some criminal suspects.

Parts of Arizona’s bill have been put on hold as they’re challenged in federal court. On Monday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district judge’s order barring parts of the Arizona law, including the section requiring police to check the legal status of people they lawfully stop and whom they suspect to be illegal immigrants.

The Georgia state Senate voted 37-19 in favor of the bill and, coming down to the wire at the end of a legislative session, the House voted 112-59 to pass it.

Republican Gov. Nathan Deal, who campaigned on passing an immigration law based on Arizona’s, has since flagged in his support, saying that an immigration law should not place an “undue burden” on employers. His office would not say Thursday whether he will sign the bill into law.

The bill requires employers with more than 10 employees to use the federal government’s E-Verify system to check workers’ immigration statuses. Police would be able to check the status of some suspects and to detain them. It would also penalize people who, while committing another crime, knowingly transport or harbor illegal immigrants, or encourage them to go to Georgia. And it would punish people who use fake identification to get a job with up to 15 years in prison and a fine of as much as $250,000.

But even if it doesn’t ultimately become law, some Georgia lawmakers are celebrating. “It’s a great day for Georgia,” said Republican Rep. Matt Ramsey, the bill’s author. “We think we have done our job that our constituents asked us to do to address the costs and the social consequences that have been visited upon our state by the federal government’s failure to secure our nation’s borders.”

Opponents, meanwhile, have argued the bill would encourage racial profiling and discrimination, and could hurt business in the state.

“You have crafted a bill that insists on demonizing people of brown skin and with Spanish accents,” Democratic Sen. Nan Orrock said, The Associated Press reported. Another Democratic senator, Vincent Fort, defended illegal immigrants’ rights to CNN, saying that “people come here, legally or illegally, to fulfill the dreams that they have for themselves and their families.”

Florida and several other states are considering similar bills, while legislation in other states has been voted down. Utah is the only other state to have passed tough anti-illegal immigration legislation so far this year. Georgia is estimated to have 480,000 illegal immigrants, 20,000 more than in Arizona.

How else can you explain their opposition to state laws requiring presidential candidates to prove their eligibility?

The Arizona Senate has approved a revised bill requiring presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens eligible to run for the office. The bill approved Wednesday gives candidates additional ways to prove they meet the constitutional requirements to be president. It was prompted by the ongoing claim by some that there is no proof President Barack Obama was born in the United States and is therefore ineligible to be president.

Democrats argued the bill exceeds the state's authority and say state officials are not fully qualified to determine the validity of a candidate's documents.

Logic dictates that if Democrats really believed Obama was fully eligible for the office of president, they wouldn't object to laws like this Arizona law. The fact that they are so vehemently opposed to such laws is a strong indication that they harbor the same doubts about him that the so-called birthers do, they're just afraid to admit to them.

Obama's half-hearted announcement of his purported attempt to win a second term as president tends to support my suspicions that he has no intention of being the Democratic nominee next year. I think he's looking for an excuse not to run, just as the Democratic elders are looking for an excuse to run someone else.

Henry Blodget: Sarah Palin Probably Staged A Gigantic Hoax About Being Trig's Mother

Forget $38B: Budget only cuts $352 million this year

Today is the day congress is set to vote on the 2011 budget which reportedly contains $38 billion in budget cuts. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth according to the CBO.

A study from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office confirms that the legislation does indeed cut that much from what federal agencies are authorized to spend this year -- but the study reveals that it will only amount to a reduction of $352 million in non-war government spending for the rest of this fiscal year.

Not only are there no real cuts, spending actually increases by $3.3 billion.

The budget makes about $8 billion in immediate cuts to domestic programs and foreign aid, but those are offset by defense spending increases. On top of that, when war funding is considered, federal spending will actually increase by $3.3 billion compared with current levels.

How did Boehner, Obama, and Reid come up with $38 billion in cuts? Smoke and mirrors.

Additionally, as the Washington Post reports today, about $8.6 billion in the budgetary reductions come from "cutting" funds that might never have been spent in the first place. Those funds, accounting over 20 percent of the "cuts," only existed as IOUs to agencies that may or may not have been cashed in.

Conservative Republicans, including 87 newly elected Tea Party candidates were asked to trust Boehner on these cuts. Hopefully in the future these conservative GOP members will harken the words of the Gipper, “trust but verify.”

“I don’t like that,” said Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.). He said he had not complained to Boehner, but added, “My ‘no’ vote will be my speaking-out.”[1]

About this time every year schools across the country will spend a bit of time teaching students about the history and origin of Thanksgiving. But what the public school system won’t be talking about is how America’s oldest national holiday was born out of the failure of the continents first failed experiment in socialism.

When the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock in 1620 they set out into the brave new world in search of religious freedom. With the noblest of intentions they organized their new colony into a communal system where there existed no private property and no division of labor, every person entitled to them same as that of any other.

For two and a half years the pilgrims labored under the communal system. But as time faded so too did the pilgrims work ethic. Young men began to resent working long hours in the fields just to watch older men’s wives and children sit back and reap what they had sowed. Workers began harvesting crops early in order to insure they got their fair share which resulted in lower crop yields. The pilgrims began to starve.

In 1623, with the death toll mounting Governor William Bradford called for a change. “The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years and that amongst godly and sober men, may well evince the vanity of that conceit of Plato's and other ancients applauded by some of later times; that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing; as if they were wiser than God. For this community (so far as it was) was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort.”

Plymouth’s leaders listened. They began allocating private plots of land to the workers. It didn’t take long for what Adam Smith called the “invisible hand” of greed to take hold of the Pilgrims and lift them out of destitution.

Bradford said of this, “So they began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop than they had done, that they might not still thus languish in misery. At length, after much debate of things, the Governor (with the advise of the chiefest among them) gave way that they should set corn every man for his own particular, and in that regard trust to themselves; in all other things to go in the general way as before. And so assigned to every family a parcel of land, according to the proportion of the number, for that end, only for present use (but made no division for inheritance) and ranged all boys and youth under some family. This had very good success, for it made all hands industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been by any means the Governor or any other could use, and saved him a great deal of trouble, and gave far better content. The women now went willingly into the field, and took their little ones with them to set corn; which before would allege weakness and inability; whom to have compelled would have been thought great tyranny and oppression.”

The pilgrims now finding themselves with more food than they could eat began setting up trading posts in the new world. They exchanged goods with the Indians and other travelers to the new world.

Now, nearly 400 years later, Americans still take time out to celebrate Thanksgiving each year by giving thanks to God for granting the pilgrims the wisdom to throw off the shackles of socialism and embrace private property and capitalism.

The Missouri voter registration site, a tool used by election workers and prospective voters to verify voter registration, has been down since 7:15 AM this morning.

Election workers are required to lookup voters on the website when their name fails to appear on the voter lists available at each precinct. Without the ability to verify registrations, anyone can go to a polling place in Missouri, give any name, and then cast a ballot.

Robin Carnahan, Missouri Secretary of State and person in charge of elections, just happens to be on the ballot for US Senate. After revelations that Carnahan refused to comply with federal mandates to purge deceased voters from rolls, people are questioning whether she or someone from her office may have purposely caused the outage.

Laura Egerdal, spokeswoman for Missouri's Secretary of State told Fox News that the issue is with an internet connection to the website and directed concerned voters to call 1-800-VOTE-NOW. However, attempts by the Kansas Citian to contact the MO election office via this number have been unsuccessful as calls go unanswered and the voicemail system is full.

Upon further investigation, the Kansas Citian’s technology experts discovered the issue is not with the website’s Internet connection, but with their Domain Name Service or DNS, a system that acts as a phone book of website addresses and translates them into IP or Internet Addresses.

The DNS servers responsible for this lookup just happen to be located in none other than the Missouri Secretary of State’s office. This means all Robin Carnahan or one of her cohorts has to do to take down the system is unplug a network cable and BOOM, no more website.

We contacted MISnet, the Internet Service Provider that serves the Missouri SOS office and they informed us their network is up and functioning normally.

UPDATE: After word of our investigation leaked, the MO SOS office moved the voter registration site from their own in house network (https:mcvr.mo.gov/elections/pollingplacelookup) to the official servers operated by the MO administrations office (http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/pollingplacelookup). However, they have not yet fully covered their tracks and the original link can still be viewed here, just look for "Find a Polling Place" in the left hand column.

The Kansas City Gazette hates the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and isn’t afraid to say it. We at the Kansas Citian don’t really care one way or the other, but did notice it seems to look less and less impressive the closer it comes to completion. It’s gone from a metal clad facade echoing beck to the Guggenheim, to the beige monstrosity it is today.

However, Kansas Citians shouldn’t be surprised that the design of the new ballet center is less than appealing. After all, this is the city that brought you those erector set looking sculptures on the top of Bartle Hall and giant cocks, of the shuttle variety, in the front yard of the Nelson-Atkins.

In the meantime, the whole city seems to be ignoring the reality that the KCFTPA is already gaining a reputation for being one of the most deadly places in KC to visit.

Robin Carnahan & Emanuel Cleaver Violating MO Election Law by Bribing People to Vote

In a new campaign ad endorsed by both MO Secretary of State Robin Carnahan and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, which is airing exclusively on urban radio stations (i.e. white people, you aren't invited), the candidates are offering free tickets to a concert featuring Peaches and Herb, Evelyn Champagne King and the Shylights. To get the tickets all one has to do is trudge on down to Robin Carnahan’s campaign office in KCMO today or tomorrow between 3 and 5 pm and present your voter ID card.

The problem? The ad indicates the tickets are a $95 value and Missouri election law forbids any person, union, or company from bribing anyone to vote or to refrain from voting, a crime punishable by a $5,000 fine, 6 months in prison, or both.

Since Robin Carnahan, in her role as Secretary of State, is in charge of overseeing her on election, we’re guessing you won’t see any efforts to investigate and or prosecute this crime.

Colorado Supreme Court Rules Use of Stolen Social Security Number by Illegal Aliens Not Illegal

The implication is that Yoder is an alcoholic drunk not afraid to hope in a car and run your kids over.:

Now Mahoney is going after MO senate candidate Roy Blunt over false allegations he hired an illegal alien to clean his home nearly 20 years ago. Again an allegation that holds no water. Not only is the illegal alien in question not making this claim, but none of KC’s so-called journalists can even locate her when she supposedly lives right up the road in St. Louis.:

Mike Mahoney should be ashamed of his obvious pandering to the left. However, they have also confirmed that among the 6,000 deceased voters still on the rolls in Kansas and Missouri, many are still casting ballots:

NBC Action News Investigators have identified records in both Kansas and Missouri where, officially, ballots were recorded as being cast using the identities of dead voters.

Area conservatives have long warned the public of the outdated registered voter lists maintained by the Missouri Secretary of States’ office. And with the recent voter irregularities resulting in the fraudulent election of John Rizzo in MO’s 40th house district concerns of voter fraud have intensified.

Stephen Broden, Republican congressional candidate in Texas, said he would not rule out violent overthrow of the government if the elections process doesn’t produce the kind of results constitutionalists are yearning for.

Broden told a reporter for WFAA-TV that revolt is not the first option, but a last resort. "We have a constitutional remedy," Broden said. "And the Framers say if that don't work, revolution."

"If the government is not producing the results or has become destructive to the ends of our liberties, we have a right to get rid of that government and to get rid of it by any means necessary,” Broden proclaimed.

And why should rebellion not be on the table?

Although you’d never know it by reading the KC Red Star, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver is facing his toughest re-election bid ever. His opponent, Jacob Turk is within single digits according to recent polls.

This has Cleaver and KC machine Democrats on the East side running scared and pulling out all the stops, from local media blackouts of Turk’s campaign to arguable racist ads running on predominantly black radio stations. Fortunately, the new media is picking up the slack.

In August of 2010, Gateway Pundit uncovered a newsletter produced by the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA) which applauded the 70 Democrat congressmen that belong to their caucus. Among them, none other than Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri’s 5th District. A copy of the newsletter can be viewed at scribd.

Why should Cleaver’s membership in this questionable organization be of concern to Missouri voters? One word, “jobs”.

Emanuel Cleaver says he’ll be better suited to bring new jobs to Missourians than Jacob Turk. But that goes against the very beliefs of the socialist organization he is a proud member of.

“Socialists have historically supported public ownership and control of the major economic institutions of society -- the large corporations… The fundamental task of democratic socialists is to build anti-corporate social movements… the building of a powerful anti-corporate coalition is the end… ”[1]

Even worse, the DSA describes one of it’s primary goals as the redistribution of income:

“Through control of the government by the Democratic Party coalition, led by anti-corporate forces, a progressive program regulating the corporations, redistributing income, and expanding social programs could be realized.”[2]

Their ultimate goal? Destruction of American society as we know it:

“If socialism cannot be achieved primarily from above, through a democratic government that owns, control[s] and regulates the major corporations, then it must emerge from below.”[2]

The question for MO 5th District voters on November 2nd is not whether to cast their ballot for Cleaver or Turk, for Democrat or Republican, but whether they wish to re-embrace the proven beliefs and policies that made the United States the richest, most advanced, most liberal society on Earth or whether to throw those traditions away in exchange for socialist policies that have led to the collapse of countless nations and the deaths of millions around the globe.

When we first asked if liberalism is driving supporters insane after one liberal/progressive snapped and went on a shooting spree at the University of Alabama killing three and another flew his airplane into an IRS building in Texas killing two, we were merely trying to expose the absurdity of the Department of Justice’s reports and other law enforcement documents that warned law enforcement to be on the lookout for terrorist activities from Ron Paul supports, constitutionalists, and buyers of gold. However, after several new attacks by liberals we’re wondering if we might be on to something.

A few weeks ago, James J. Lee took employees of the Discovery Channel hostage in their company’s headquarters because they would not take a stronger stance against pollution. In a manifesto of sorts posted to his website James declared his awakening after watching Al Gore’s less than fact based documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.”

And just a few days ago, and largely ignored by the media, Casey Breznik, a student of Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley, stabbed the Dean in an attempt to stab Missouri Governer Jay Nixon. Although the media simply waxes over Breznik’s political views by calling him anti-government and a schizophrenic, a quick peruse of his Facebook page reveals all the evidence one needs to expose his leftist ideology:

Church Agrees to Halt Koran Burning After Mortgage Company Calls Loan Due

After a startling turn of events that should have every freedom loving American concerned, Pastor Terry Jones has announced he has called off his controversial “Burn a Koran Day” protest.

After being condemned by everyone from President Obama to Sean Hannity, after being visited by the FBI and the New Black Panther Party, even after receiving threats of violence from outraged Muslims Pastor Jones held firm to his vow to protest Islamic terror by burning 200 Korans on Saturday, the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks which killed more than 3,000 Americans in the name of Islam. But the pressure Pastor Jones couldn’t stand up to was the one brought on by the mortgage company that holds the deed to his church.

The scheme appears to be a collaboration between multiple companies in order to silence Pastor Jones’s freedom of speech. It all started when Cotton All-Lines Insurance cancelled the commercial insurance policy on his church’s property. This triggered an immediate default on the mortgage.

Then RBC Bank, the mortgage lender, called due the church’s loan giving them a very short time in which to pay off the entire mortgage or see their church stripped from them and sold at auction. They’ll need to come up with $140,000 in just 60 days to stave of foreclosure.

It should be noted that the Royal Bank of Canada has embraced Islam wholeheartedly creating special lines of loans and accounts that are “Sharia compliant” and only available to Muslims.

It is not yet known if the conspiracy to strip Pastor Terry Jones first amendment free speech rights between Cotton All-Lines Insurance and RBC Bank constitutes a crime, but we will keep you informed as more information becomes available.

Webhosting Firm, Rackspace Pulls Website of Church That Wants to Burn Korans for Hate Speech Violations

The small church responsible for the “Burn a Koran Day” protest, which has not yet burned any Qurans, has had it’s website pulled by one of the nations largest webhosting providers, Rackspace.

"We have terminated them as a customer of Rackspace on Wednesday," he said.

Goodgame said officials from the web hosting firm had spoken with Jones on Wednesday afternoon and informed him that he had until midnight to migrate to another site after complaints about "hate speech."

"It was a fairly short conversation in which we reminded him of the accepted use policy," Goodgame said. "He (Jones) said he intended to still post his anti-Islamic messages."

We’ve heard of losing your site over piracy or pornography, but political correctness is a new one. We can’t help but wonder if sites hosting the works of Danish cartoonists or linking to Slate’s Christopher Hicthens might also find themselves on the wrong side of what Rackspace deems as acceptable speech…

What Americans Can Learn from Burning the Quran

Islam is peace. It’s a mantra we have had drummed into us over and over by the mainstream media and the political class since 9/11. On Saturday, one Florida man is going to try to find out just how true that message is.

The planned protest by the reverend of the Dove World Outreach Center calls for a day of burning the Quran, the Muslim holy book, in protest for terrorism conducted throughout the world in the name of Islam.

As news of the protest spread, strange allies were made between those on the Left and the Right who were quick to condemn the protest as divisive and hateful. General David Petraeus, architect of the surge strategy that helped bring an end to combat in Iraq, has stated that the protest would endanger US troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. One could argue that Petraeus’s rules of engagement have endangered far more troops than Quran burning ever could, but that is a whole other issue.

While the act of burning the Quran is certainly a demonstration of just how provocative the exercise of free speech can be, it can also serve as a learning tool for Americans and other Westerners. Because, if and when this protest is carried out Muslims can respond in one of two ways.

They can respond peacefully, by praying to Allah for the forgiveness of this man’s ignorance and his sins against God, or as many believe will be the case, they can react violently, calling for Jihad and the assassination of this reverend, and use it as a tool to incite more violence against the West.

Islam is peace. How Muslims react on Saturday will give us all the opportunity to learn just how true that is.

Kansas City tea partiers are bound to find inspiration in one of the movements newest bloggers, the Independent Black Conservative Corner.

In IBC’s newest post he reflects on his struggles with being called an Uncle Tom and how he found renewed enthusiasm to fight for conservative principles of freedom and self-determination in his young daughter.

“It was as if I was breathing a deep breath of fresh air when my 9 year old daughter came over for the weekend, it renewed my spirit, drive, and my reason for doing this. As I thought about what I want to do for her generation, I thought about the great Americans who had come before me. The dedicated men and women of the past who sacrificed so much for us; from Martin Luther King, George Washington, Medgar Evers, Abraham Lincoln and Susie B Anthony. What is so impressive about all of these people is they share one common trait; they were self-less.”

IBC reminds his readers that it was the sacrifices of these and other Americans that have made this country great. And while it is easy to sit back on the couch and just watch as the government infringes further and further into our lives in the name of “progress,” it is the selfless individual that has the power to stand up and affect real change.

Fostering the Minority Conservative

With black Americans only making up around 12% of the U.S. population, and more than 95% of the black vote being cast for Democrats in the last election, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the number of blacks participating in the Tea Party movement is but a tiny fraction of overall participants. Yet, this has not stopped those in the media from portraying Tea Partiers as racist by sighting the makeup of Tea Partiers as predominantly white.

It’s nothing new for Democrat activists to characterize those who disagree with their agenda as racist, but recently those tactics have been stepped up dramatically.

At their annual meeting held recently in Kansas City, the NAACP drafted a measure labeling the Tea Party as racist and calling on the leaders of the movement to rebuke racist members. Tea Party members who have spent their precious time and money participating in the truly grassroots movement rightly feel the desire to defend themselves from such baseless allegations.

In Kansas City, local radio talk show host Darla Jaye created a segment on her show entitled The Conservative Minority, in which she has on various members of the Tea Party in Kansas City that just happen to also be classified as members of various minority groups. The segment debuted on July 22nd and has been extremely well received by her audience.

Nationally, Glenn Beck has been running a series of specials on his Fox News show dedicated to minority founding fathers who have found themselves erased from the history books. The series has been so popular that it earned Beck the #2 spot on the “blackest white people we know” list put out by Root magazine. Glenn Beck will also be appearing with the descendents of Martin Luther King, Jr. on August 28, 2010 to commemorate the anniversary of the legendary civil rights leader’s “I have a dream…” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Although conservative Tea Party activists deserve more publicity for outreaches like those by Beck and Jaye, to some it can come off sounding more like the stereotypical, "I’m not racist, my friend is black," response given by those labeled as racist by the left.

What Conservatives really need are minority leaders, ladies and gentlemen like those featured on Beck and Jaye’s shows that stand up and take a more active leadership role in local politics.

Minorities who see themselves in the Democrat party have spent their lives being fed misinformation by the left designed to keep them disenfranchised and unaware of just how much political power they have. If minority leaders are brave enough to reach out to Conservative groups they are going be extremely surprised to find just how eager conservatives and Republicans are to find and embrace them within their party.

Take for instance the anecdote from one of the 34 black Republicans currently running for congress in which the candidate and his wife attended a fundraiser at a biker bar that had the Rebel flag adorned on the wall. The candidate's wife raised a bit of concern to her husband. He asked her to give them a chance and see how things go.

The couple came to find that not only were they eagerly received, but they left with $5,000 in campaign donations and several volunteers ready to go out and get him elected.

For minorities that are ready to stop looking for handouts and for someone to blame for their predicaments and ready to step up and do something about it, the Republican party is just the place for them. Not only will they find themselves on the right side history, but they will find they are capable of wielding far more influence then they ever had in a Democrat party that has taken minority support for granted for generations.

Democrat Policymaker Admits Racist Tea Party Label Just a Political Tactic

Former chairman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, Mary Frances Berry admitted to Politco that not only was the Tea Party not racist, but that the tactic of falsely labeling them as such was proving to be highly successful for Democrats.

“Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.”

The History and Organization of the Tea Party

Amid continual accusations of racism and hate from liberals, the mainstream media has been questioning why leaders of the grassroots activist movement known as the Tea Party are not openly rebuking these unsubstantiated claims of bigotry and hate.

Forgetting for a moment that a hundred thousand dollar reward for evidence proving claims of racism from the Tea Party by race baiters on the left still sits unclaimed and that people that make up the Tea Party consist of a wide variety of of varying color, religion, and political party affiliation, including 34 African-American candidates running for Congress as Republicans, one must wonder why those in the media fail to acknowledge that the truly grassroots nature of the Tea Party means there is no central organization, no "leaders" of the movement that can respond to liberal political groups' calls to refute racism. Thus, one can only assume one of two possibilities, either the media is willfully distorting the facts in order to score political points for liberal Democrats or they are ignorant to how the Tea Party came to be.

Let's give our friends in the media the benefit of doubt and assume they are truly unable to wrap their imaginations around the Tea Party due to their own liberal experiences and explain once and for all what the movement is and how it came to be.

To understand the formation of the Tea Party we have to go back to September 11, 2001 when 19 Muslim Jihadists high jacked four airliners, crashing two into the World Trade Centers in New York City, one into the Pentagon in Washington DC, and one that was bound for the White House into a field in Pennsylvania. The nation sat stunned that day, watching the events as they unfold live on television.

In the aftermath, a feeling of patriotism swept across the country the likes of which had not occurred since December 7th, 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and drug the United States into World War II.

Although during the subsequent years after 9/11 that feeling of patriotism waned in a few, the majority of Americans still felt it strongly. So, when thousands of illegal immigrants took to the streets of Los Angeles, CA on March 31, 2006 waiving Mexican flags and demanding citizenship from the nation they called racist and fascist many Americans became rightly concerned.

For the first time since the 1960’s fight for civil rights, conservatives took to the streets to protest the government’s lack of response to the growing problem of illegal immigration. In fact, workplace enforcement had gotten so bad under the Bush administration that it dwarfed even the extremely weak enforcement efforts of the Clinton administration[1].

In 1999, the Clinton administration prosecuted 447 employers for immigration law violations. During 2003, the Bush administration prosecuted just 3, this despite the number of illegal aliens crossing into the country illegally each year having ballooned to records levels.

To make matters worse, the Bush administration, together with Senators John McCain and Ted Kennedy attempted to push through congress a “comprehensive” immigration reform bill that would have provided amnesty for the estimated 12 to 20 illegal aliens residing in the country. Despite their efforts and those of the media, conservative activists were able to put enough pressure on their congressmen to stall the bill and get some modest new security measures passed.

The people had spoken. They sent a message to congress that they were no longer trusted, that before the people would be willing to consider any measure that would forgive the crime of violating immigration law the U.S. must secure it’s border both from the threat of terrorism and the continually growing problem of illegal immigration.

During the mid-term elections held later that year pro-enforcement conservatives joined with independents growing concerned with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to vote out the representatives that had bought into the Bush administration efforts to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. In doing so, Democrats took control of both the House and the Senate for the first time since Bush was elected in 2000.

A Texas congressman by the name of Ron Paul latched onto the growing feelings of discontent with the federal government held by many Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents. In doing so, his presidential bid garnered fast and widespread support despite the mainstream media’s and conservative talk radio hosts’ efforts to derail his campaign.

Winning straw poll after straw poll Ron Paul and his supporters were ignored. But, when on Nov. 5th, 2007 the Ron Paul campaign set the single day campaign fundraising record by receiving $4.2 million in contributions, they could no longer do so. Instead the media and many conservative talk show hosts across the country took to attacking Ron Paul and his “kook” supporters that sought a return to a true constitutional government.

Seizing the publicity from their record breaking fundraising effort, the Ron Paul campaign launched what they called “Tea Party ‘07”. The idea was to honor the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party by marching from the Boston State House to Faneuil Hall. By the end of that day the Ron Paul campaign had set another record for single day contributions, receiving more than $4.3 million from more than 33,000 Paleo-Conservatives, Libertarians, and Independents. The Ron Paul Revolution was in full swing.

Although Ron Paul’s presidential campaign ultimately fell short of its goal, it was wildly successful in creating a large contingent of highly motivated constitutional activists. These activists, not wanting to see their efforts just go to waste, quickly formed their own political action committees. Groups like the Hope for American Coalition, Campaign for Liberty, and Americans for Prosperity began popping up all over the country.

Talk show host Glenn Beck along the with others sensed Americans’ growing concern with the direction the federal government was taking. So, he created the 9-12 Project, an effort to get people to remember how they came together after the attacks of 9/11 and use those feelings to find other similarly minded individuals and work together to enact real change in their local communities. With no central control, each chapter of the 9-12 Project operates on its own.

So in late 2008 when President Bush embraced a plan created by Democrats and the Federal Reserve to give nearly $1 trillion to some of the nations biggest financial institutions that were at least partially culpable for the diversity recession which brought the US economy to its knees, these now engaged activists were ready and somewhat organized. They began massive letter writing and phone campaigns designed to lobby congress to vote against the $800 million TARP bill.

Unlike the pressure Americans put on congress in 2006 with regards to comprehensive immigration reform, their opinions were ignored and the bill easily passed both houses of congress and was signed into law by President Bush. The vast majority of Americans were outraged and were looking for more effective ways to get involved.

It wasn’t until President Obama had taken office and Democrats had increased their majorities in House and Senate allowing them to pass another $1 trillion dollar stimulus bill through congress without any opposition party to stop them that the outrage many Americans were feeling boiled over. The first few people began taking to the streets, spontaneously protesting in front of the offices of elected representatives that voted for the stimulus bill. Crowds of a few people quickly turned into hundreds as word spread over the Internet and radio of the protests.

Connections were being made, organizations like those previously mentioned were dramatically growing in number, more and more people were getting involved. And finally, when it was proposed that a Tax Day Tea Party protest be held on April 15, 2009 to protest out of control government spending, the idea spread like wild fire.

Because there was no central organization behind these Tea Party protests many different organizations held their own. Some cities saw as many as 10 to 15 different Tax Day Tea Parties. Although largely ignored and underestimated by the mainstream media, millions of Americans of all different races, religions, and political affiliation joined in.

The Tea Party movement was born.

In subsequent months the Obama administration together with its super majority in the House and Senate ushered through a host of other unpopular spending bills that further outraged constitutional activists. And when the administration took up health care reform, they were playing with fire.

Now whole heartedly engaged Tea Party activists took to social networking websites like Facebook, twitter, and Meetup.com to communicate. They learned when and where various congressmen would be holding town hall meetings to discuss the 2500 page healthcare reform bill and they showed up in force. In many cases, Americans calmly expressing opposition to the bill turned to shouts of frustration and anger as their members of congress falsely testified to the contents of the bill having not actually read it themselves.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was quick to call those expressing their anger at the reform legislation as Nazi-like and uninformed. Yet, later she herself would be forever remembered for telling the American people that congress had to pass the bill so they can actually find out what’s in it. Other members of congress defended their unwillingness to read the bill by saying it was too big and written in such a way that only a legal scholar could understand. And still they passed it.

On the weekend of the vote, millions of Tea Partiers across the country descended on Washington. For days they marched and stood outside the Capitol Building voicing their opposition. When a delegation of black congressmen defiantly walked through the crowd of protestors to the Capitol Building to undoubtedly cast their votes in favor of the reform the shouts from protestors drew unsubstantiated claims of racism.

One congressman from Kansas City, MO, Rep. Cleaver, claimed one protestor spat on him and he heard shouts of the n-word over and over. Another congressman in the group levied the similar charges. Tea Partiers rightly questioned these claims as many in the movement are themselves minorities and they themselves, in all their experiences with past Tea Party protests had never once experienced such a display of bigotry as that being alleged.

Videos began popping up on the Internet showing the march by these congressman, videos that did not seem to substantiate their claims. A video even popped up of the so-called spitting incident and it was anything like what Rep. Cleaver had described. A reward of up to $100,000 was offered for video evidence of the claims. To date, no one has been able to claim that reward despite their being hundreds of video cameras and other recording devices there, even those being held by the very members of congress who leveled the allegations to begin with.

Now, as the issue of comprehensive immigration reform heats up again and Democrats realize the majority of Americans have organized against their actions through the Tea Party, they are attempting to discredit the movement through renewed claims of racism because they know they have no other argument to make about why they should be re-elected and why the country should continue to not secure its border and to not enforce its own immigration laws. The NAACP has called on the leaders of the Tea Party to denounce racism, but who are the leaders of the Tea Party? There are no leaders, let alone any factual widespread racist actions they can point to.

Because of the non-organized nature of the Tea Party movement it would be foolish to claim their were absolutely no racists that consider themselves Tea Partiers. But what one can be sure of, is that the overwhelming majority of Tea Partiers are not racist and can and do make every effort to weed out any racist who would attempt to latch on to the movement in order to further their own twisted agenda.

The Tea Party’s own agenda is a simple one. The return to Constitutional government of, by, and for the people, a government that defends its borders and defends its citizens’ inalienable rights, a government all too many Americans recognize was stolen from them long ago by special interests.

Clearly, these articles suggest that condom manufacturers are inherently racist. No word on whether they will be manufacturing a special condom made just for Tony’s tiny little Mexican penis.

According to Tony of Tonyskansascity, the Kansas City, MO City Clowncil is set to vote on a measure rebuking Arizona for passing SB 1070, a measure that grants local and state law enforcement the authority to enforce federal immigration laws on suspected illegal immigrants they encounter during the normal enforcement of other laws and ordinances.

The “preliminary” text of the measure:

CALLING FOR THE STATE OF ARIZONA TO REPEAL OF ARIZONA SENATE BILL 1070 AND DEVELOP REASONABLE CONSTITUTIONAL MEASURES TO IMMIGRATION REFORM

Whereas, the State of Arizona enacted SB 1070, which was signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer on the 23rd day of April 2010, requiring all Arizona local law enforcement to investigate a person’s immigration status when there is suspicion that the person is in the Country unlawfully, regardless of whether that person is suspected of a crime; and

Whereas, Arizona SB 1070 requires Arizona local law enforcement to question those they suspect are illegal immigrants, whether or not they have cause to believe an illegal act has been committed; and

Whereas, Arizona SB 1070 requires Arizona local law enforcement “when practicable” to detain people who they “reasonably suspect” are in the county without authorization; compels Arizona local law enforcement to charge immigrants with a state crime for not carrying immigration documents, and creates a private right of action to sue cities upon belief that the local Arizona government has a policy or practice that restricts Arizona local law enforcement from implementing immigration law; and

Whereas, Arizona SB 1070 seriously undermines the United States Constitution which grants Congress the exclusive power over immigration matters; and

Whereas Arizona SB 1070 encourages racial and ethnic profiling and violates Fourteenth Amendment guarantees of due process and equal protection for US citizens, legal residents and visitors from being detained for being in the County unlawfully; and

Whereas, Arizona SB 1070 does not prohibit Arizona law enforcement officers from relying on race, ethnicity, national origin or language to determine who to investigate; and
Whereas, the United States is facing a recession, which has impacted municipal revenues and significantly reduced funding for local law enforcement; and

Court: FCC has No Power to Regulate the Tubes

The giant telecom and cable monopolies that control 99% of U.S. broadband services won a big battle with the FCC earlier today.

A three judge panel in Washington overturned a 2008 FCC ruling that barred cable and phone giants from blocking customers’ access to Internet technologies such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and Peer-to-Peer (p2p) file sharing. The ruling comes as a blow to proponents of Net Neutrality regulations.

In the past AT&T executives have tried to claim that companies like Google, HULU, and Apple are stealing bandwidth from them by allowing their customers to get email, perform web searches, and and stream audio or video without paying AT&T special access fees.

Currently the Internet is modeled in a peering system where consumers pay Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for access to the Internet and Internet services companies like Google pay ISPs for access to the Internet enabling companies and consumers to reach each other. Now that the FCC ruling has been overturned, proponents of Net Neutrality believe telecom giants like AT&T will move to begin double billing companies like Google and Apple by making them pay additional fees for access to their customers. Some believe things could get even worse and companies services could be blocked entirely from telecom and cable giants’ networks.

“We’ve run into this very problem with cable providers in Kansas City,” said James Nelson, President of KCnet, Inc. a independent Internet Service Provider that’s been providing access since 1995. “In addition to our high-speed Internet services we offer digital phone service or Voice-over-IP. The cable companies also offer a similar service but at substantially higher cost. As a result we’ve been able to attract many cable Internet customers to our VoIP service.”

“Needless to say, these companies haven’t liked this and have from time-to-time blocked their customers’ ability to access our VoIP services,” continued Mr. Nelson. “Because of the nature of the blocks these companies employ, it is nearly impossible to prove when they are occurring.”

“A lack of Net Neutrality regulation and enforcement has resulted and will continue to result in increased costs for consumers and decreased competition in the access market space,” he concluded.

The U.S once led the world in broadband adoption, today the country ranks 15th and is sliding rapidly largely due to monopoly control of the Internet infrastructure and the pipes that deliver next generation speeds to consumers.

Proponents of Net Neutrality now believe the only option the FCC has is to force cable and telecom giants to provide wholesale, unrestricted access to their networks in much the same way they currently do with telephone services. Others believe the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division should embrace a national highway or Interstate type system for delivering the Internet to consumers where the government would step in and break up telecom and cable giants by splitting their infrastructure layer from their services layer in order to create one new regulated company that controls all the pipes in the ground and wireless spectrum in the sky and leaving all other companies to compete in the free market for the services delivered over those lines.

Until the FCC or congress acts, companies like Comcast and AT&T will be able to block and/or restrict the sites and services their customers can access on the Internet.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t make the president any less of a boob because as you undoubtedly already know he once tried to enter the White House through a window mistaking it for a door, bumped his head on the doorway of Marine One, flubbed the oath of office, believes there are 57 states in the union, and once thanked himself in a speech after a teleprompter malfunction.

With as many candid camera moments as this president has given us in just over a year, there really is no need to resort to making fake videos.

Democrat Rep. Phil Hare - The Constitution Doesn't Matter

When Hare’s constituents try to call him out on that inflammatory statement and the oath he swore to protect it he responds by confusing the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution.

When asked where in the Constitution it grants the federal government the right to force people to purchase health insurance Hare replies, “I don’t know.”

Finally, After proclaiming he read all 2700 pages of Obamacare not once, but three times, he flees when the mathematical impossibility of such a feat is pointed out to him.

Gateway Pundit Doesn't Like to Hear the Hard Truths About Lincoln

It always worries me when a so-called “conservative” is quick to attack Ron Paul. Because again and again the only reason they do so is because Ron Paul does not support spreading democracy through war… something conservatives believed up until the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gateway Pundit did just that after reading an interview with Rep. Paul on Right Wing News:

Ron Paul insisted in a recent interview that Abe Lincoln could have avoided the Civil War by buying the southern slaves from the southerners…

Of course, this is ridiculous on many levels. For one, hindsight is 20/20. No one knew going into the war what it would mean to this country– that 600,000 Americans would lose their lives, that the South would be devastated.

And, buying out the slave owners was not an option.

Ron Paul’s statement was not that the North should have purchased slaves from their owners to prevent the Civil War. It was that if Lincoln truly did not want civil war and if the real reason for the civil war was to end slavery, than Lincoln could have made the offer to buyout slave owners. And as much as GP would like it to be so, the proposition is not some wild notion that Dr. Paul thought up in his basement.

Not only had other former slave owning countries like Britain freed slaves buy buying out their owners, but Lincoln’s own letters show he considered doing it himself after the costs of the war started to mount.

“As to the expensiveness of the plan of gradual emancipation with compensation, proposed in the late Message, please allow me one or two brief suggestions.

Less than one half—day’s cost of this war would pay for all the slaves in Delaware at four hundred dollars per head:

Thus, all the slaves in Delaware, by the Census of 1860, are 1798

…

Cost of the slaves, $ 719,200.

One day’s cost of the war ``2,000,000.

Again, less than eighty seven days cost of this war would, at the same price, pay for all in Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Kentucky, and Missouri.

…

Cost of the slaves $173,048,800
Eightyseven days’ cost of the war ``174,000,000.”[1]

According to US Census data from 1860, there were 3.9 million slaves in the whole of the United States. Even at $400 per, that’s only $1.5 billion to free the entire nation, not just the South as Lincoln did in his Emancipation Proclamation. Yet, GP holds on to some analysis that seemingly ignores Lincoln’s own conclusions.

A major problem here was that the costs of such a scheme would have been enormous. Claudia Goldin estimates that the cost of having the government buy all the slaves in the United States in 1860, would be about $2.7 billion (1973: 85, Table 1).

By the time you add the total cost of the Civil War, roughly $7 billion, and the cost of lives lost, 600,000, $1.5 billion appears to be a bargain even Wal-mart couldn’t dream of.

So again we return to Paul’s original statements.

“I don't think [Lincoln] was one of our greatest presidents. I mean, he was determined to fight a bloody civil war, which many have argued could have been avoided. For 1/100 the cost of the war, plus 600 thousand lives, enough money would have been available to buy up all the slaves and free them. So, I don't see that is a good part of our history. Besides, the Civil War was to prove that we had a very, very strong centralized federal government and that's what it did. It rejected the notion that states were a sovereign nation.”

He’s right. Lincoln fought the Civil War not to free slaves, but to demonstrate that the United States was not a union of 50 independent states, but one nation under the control of Washington bureaucrats.

“I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery… If I could save the Union without freeing any slaves, I would do it.”

On top of Lincoln not being concerned with ending slavery, his own generals were raging anti-Semites.

“General Henry W. Halleck linked ‘traitors and Jew peddlers.’”[2] General Ulysses S. Grant issued General Order No.11 in 1862 which banished all Jews in his military district, an area that included all of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Kentucky.

At first Lincoln ignored protests that GO #11 violated the Constitutional rights of Jewish citizens. Rallies in St. Louis, Louisville, and Cincinnati fell on deaf ears.

Only after Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation did he feel enough pressure to rescind Grant’s order.

Today Lincoln is only remembered for freeing slaves, an act he was unfortunately reluctant to carry out. Instead, he should be remembered for strengthening the central government so much so that it now finds no problems with infringing on the rights of its citizens and ignoring the rights of its states.

No matter, the simple truth still exists, Lincoln could have appeased slave owners and freed the slaves without firing a single shot, without expending 600,000 lives had he employed the same abolitionist techniques as our British allies, that of simply purchasing the slaves and then freeing them.

Paul’s conclusions about Lincoln are not only spot on, they are appropriately timed given the recent overreaches by the federal government.

Democrat Hank Johnson Afraid of Environment Impact of Moving 8,000 Marines to Guam

Rep. Hank Johnson demonstrates how Democrats have a firm grasp on environmental issues from global warming to over population. During congressional hearings Johnson warns an admiral that moving 8,000 US Marines and their families to the small island of Guam may cause it to, “tip over and capsize.”

Meanwhile, Senators are wondering why NASA climatologists are telling people their temperature data is unreliable and to go to East Anglia University's Climatic Research Unit for more accurate records. Bare in mind this is the same temperature data East Anglia University’s own climatologists admitted was incorrect, falsified, and included “enhanced” statistics.

Democrats Channel McCarthy Over Health Care Charges

The economic fallout from Obamacare continued today as Prudential announced they would have to take $100 million hit as a result of the controversial health care legislation.

The growing list of companies who have reported how the Democrats’ health care reform now includes Caterpillar ($100 million), John Deere ($150 million), AK Steele ($31 million), Prudential ($100 million), and AT&T ($1 billion).

A study by Credit Suisse of the S&P 500 found that the companies makeup the index will have a reduced income of a total of $4.5 billion because of provisions contained in Obamacare that remove the tax breaks for providing retirees’ care. Verizon sent a notice to its employees warning of impending cuts to retiree drug coverage as a result of those same provisions.

During the debate leading up to passage of the bill, Democrats dismissed warnings from financial experts over the impacts of their reform plans as scaremongering and lies. Now with egg on their faces, their turning to a tactic they so vigorously lauded in the past… congressional hearings.

You can almost hear California Rep. Henry Waxman as he made his announcement earlier this week, “I have here in my hands a list of 205… a list of companies that were made known to the Securities and Exchange Commission as being negatively impacted by health care reform and who have the gall to make these costs known to the American people. . . .”

Waxman did say of the hearings that he will call the CEOs of these companies to testify about the “claims by Caterpillar, Verizon, and Deere that provisions in the new health care reform law could adversely affect their company’s ability to provide health insurance to their employees. These assertions appear to conflict with independent analyses, which show that the new law will expand coverage and bring down costs.”

Waxman’s witch hunt is a warning to other companies that may be considering making similar announcements about the costs of Obamacare, “keep your mouths shut.”

The problem for Waxman and other Democrats unhappy with the realities of regulating 1/6th of the U.S. economy is that companies are required by securities law to file form 8-K whenever any material changes are realized… i.e. when the Democrats’ health care reform bill was signed into law. Also, because CEOs are rewarded based on their companies performance and thusly have no incentive to overstate the costs of health care reform, there exists a strong likelihood that these announcements understate those costs.

If Waxman really wanted to get to the root of the problem he’d be holding hearings and calling to testify those members of congress who couldn’t be bothered to read the bill, you know, like the president, and the “independent analysts” who failed to predict these costs despite the fact that companies and financial experts were screaming about them to any who would listen. Instead, Democrats are arming up to shoot the messengers.

Obamacare May Have Passed, But Opponents Scored Many Victories Along the Way

While there is a tendency for constitutionalist, conservatives, and Tea Partiers to feel discouraged by their government’s insistence on passing a bill that was unpopular with the majority of Americans and rife with unconstitutional measures and infringements upon our liberties, they should take heart in the many victories their activism brought about.

Here are but a few:

The Public Option

Prior to the fall of 2009 President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid were dead set on any health care reform packages containing a “public option.”

In a letter sent to Sen. Ted Kennedy in June of that year President Obama wrote, “I strongly believe that Americans should have the choice of a public health insurance option operating alongside private plans. This will give them a better range of choices, make the health care market more competitive, and keep insurance companies honest.”[1]

“Any real change requires the inclusion of a strong public option to promote competition and bring down costs,” [Nancy] Pelosi said. “If a vigorous public option is not included, it would be a major victory for the health insurance industry.”[2]

Democrats even went so far as to try and call the public option by another name to fight off opposition. The “competitive option” as Nancy Pelosi began calling it was losing ground with the American people.

"You'll hear everyone say, 'There's got to be a better name for this,'" Pelosi said. "When people think of the public option, public is being misrepresented, that this is being paid for with their public dollars."[3]

In the end, concerned citizens that showed up to town hall meetings across the country in opposition to the President’s plan won out and the public option was dropped.

Death Panels

There has been much misinformation regarding the so-called “death panels” contained in the original health care reform packages proposed by congress. While many Democrats would like to mislead you into believing they never existed, Sarah Palin was the first to point out the specific sections in the legislation that contained them.

“Section 1233 authorizes advanced care planning consultations for senior citizens on Medicare every five years, and more often “if there is a significant change in the health condition of the individual ... or upon admission to a skilled nursing facility, a long-term care facility... or a hospice program." During those consultations, practitioners must explain “the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice,” and the government benefits available to pay for such services.”[4]

After a massive outpouring of anger from senior citizens the Senate Finance Committee dropped “mandatory end-of-life counseling” or death panels from the bill.

Sen. Chuck Grassley said in a statement. “We dropped end-of-life provisions from consideration entirely because of the way they could be misinterpreted and implemented incorrectly.”[5]

Federal Funding of Abortions

Although specific language preventing the use of federal funds was left out of the final bill, pro-life activists managed to score a small victory for the unborn. On Wednesday, President Obama signed an executive order reaffirming a ban on the use of federal funds for elective abortions.

There is much to be concerned of with regards to abortion and the health care reform bill signed into law, but this order puts the president on record assuring the American people their tax dollars will not go to funding abortions. As Keith Olbermann would put it, a promise he breaks at his own “peril.”

Scott Brown

Perhaps one of the most meaningful victories for opponents of health care reform came with the election of Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown. In an election that hung on one key issue, health care reform, Scott Brown was able to win the very seat held by Sen. Ted Kennedy, a seat Republicans had not won in more than 45 years.

The election of Scott Brown also broke the Democrats 60-vote majority.

No longer with a filibuster proof majority, Democrats were forced to embrace the highly controversial reconciliation method to pass health care reform, a move which was highly unpopular with the American people and will cost Democrats dearly in November.

Deem and Pass

Upon fear that opponents of Obama’s health care reform plan may be able to put enough pressure on Democrat members of the House to vote against the bill Nancy Pelosi proposed a maneuver known as the “slaughter rule” or “deem and pass” that would have the house voting on a rule to consider a Senate version of health care reform as passed even though no actual vote had been taken.

Amid cries from citizens questioning the constitutionality of such a move, and reports that Nancy Pelosi herself filed a lawsuit to prevent a similar move in the House under GOP control, she was forced to back down.

Although the bill ultimately passed with votes garnered via smoke filled backroom deals and coercion, the damage to the Democrats’ reputations was done. Nancy Pelosi’s approval rating fell to an all time low of 11%, Harry Reid’s fell to 8%,[8] and for the first time since being elected, more people disapproved of President Obama than approved.[7]

In the end, Democrats scored a temporary victory in the battle over health care reform, but not without having to make many concessions along the way. Opponents of Obamacare should hang their hat on what they did accomplish and look to build on these small victories in November.

Folgers Closes KC Plant, Social Media Goes Berzerk

Yesterday news of Folgers plans to close their Kansas City plant and move it to Nawlins spread quickly across social networks likes Facebook and Twitter. Even some local blogs jumped in to try and save the plant.

Maybe it’s just me, but the best part of wakin' up ... and keeping the plant open, for that matter, is actually buying a f’n cup of Folgers instead of just smelling it on your way to the Starbucks.

Tea Party Violent? GOP Rep. Eric Cantor’s Office Shot At

While Democrats are rushing to the nearest microphone to proclaim their fears of angry voters, the only real instance of violence occurred when a Republican congressman’s campaign office had a bullet come flying through.

Rep. Eric Canter staunchly opposed Obamacare and took to the House floor this morning to lament Democrats from crying violence where there has been none.

“[I] have deep concerns that some, DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen and DNC Chairman Tim Kaine in particular, are dangerously fanning the flames by suggesting that these incidents be used as a political weapon,” Cantor said.

Democrats have called on Republicans to condemn the threats, something they have already done on more than one occasion. However, Democrats have been silent about the very real violence coming from their supporters.

“I’m not naïve enough to think that letters, statements or press releases will prevent anyone disturbed enough to commit violence from acting,” Cantor said. “But I do know that such letters statements and press releases can very easily fan the flames by ratcheting up the rhetoric, some would only inflame these situations to dangerous levels. Enough is enough it has to stop.”

Cantor also says he’s received numerous threats because of his Jewish heritage. These threats could very likely be coming from extremists that are feeling vindicated by the President’s and Democrats’ continued vilification of “bankers,” an old code word for ‘Jew’.

Kris Kobach and the American People Lose Another One

Anyone hoping the government will finally start enforcing immigration laws has once again been dealt a blow. In a case that challenged a cities’ rights, specifically Farmers Branch, TX, to block by ordinance landlords from renting to illegal immigrants has found that cities lack the authority to enforce federal immigration laws.

US District Judge Jane J. Boyle said in her ruling, "Ordinance 2952 is a regulation of immigration and is preempted by the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution because the authority to regulate immigration is exclusively a federal power.”

The problem with Ms Boyle’s ruling is that Supreme Court precedents states just the opposite. In Edgar v Mite Corporation the Supreme Court ruled, “a state statute is void to the extent that it actually conflicts with a valid federal statute,” something this law does not do. That ruling also set out two criteria, either of which must be met, in order for an ordinance to be considered in violation of the Supremacy Clause. They are:

Compliance with both federal and state law is impossible, or
"...state law stands as an obstacle to the accomplishment and execution of the full purposes and objectives of Congress..."

Again, neither instance exists. In fact, this ordinance does not just not conflict, but it compliments Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii) which states that any person knowingly aiding, abetting, harboring, or encouraging illegal immigrants is a Felony.

"We are cautiously optimistically that the Farmers Branch ordinance will be upheld on appeal," attorney for Farmers Branch, Kris Kobach said.

Unfortunately, the case has already cost Farmers Branch $3.2 million to defend and city council members that support the ordinance are unsure if they will continue to be able to fund the effort to protect their city’s rights.

The Cleaver Spitting Incident

This video comes to us by way of 24thstate. The incident in questions comes at approximately 1:25 in the following clip. You be the judge, spitting or vigorous yelling?

To us it seems pretty clear the man was yelling, and clearly from the audio he wasn’t yelling racial slurs. Rev. Cleaver does seem to react abruptly to something. Our guess, the yeller was “spraying it, not saying,” a far cry from spitting on someone because they are black as Rev. Cleaver has alleged.

While I believe the march concocted by the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) was a political stunt designed to draw a negative reaction, as evidenced by the fact these members of congress, like the others who did, could have taken the tunnel that connects the two buildings they were leaving traveling to and from, I do not think their claims of racism were deliberate distortions. Instead, I would argue they were likely caused by some sort of Post Traumatic Stress resulting from similar experiences garnered in the civil rights marches of the 1960’s.

People on both sides need to remember what it was like for these men back then, marching and fighting for their rights as human beings. Not since then have they marched in like fashion through crowds of angry Americans.

It would be similar to having a Vietnam vet march through the jungles or having a dog mauling victim locked in a cage with a pit bull.

Let’s hope both sides can put the rhetoric behind them and have some understanding for these men and the tens of thousands of law abiding American citizens that went out that day to exercise their first amendment rights.

Minuteman Civil Defense Corps Disbands

Carmen Mercer, president of the Arizona-based Minuteman Civil Defense Corps has announced that the groups board has voted to disband the anti-illegal immigration organization.

The organization has long been the target of open border advocates since its inception in 2002. Despite the group’s noble mission statement, it has been labeled racist by organizations such as La Raza and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Ms Mercer stated the reasons behind the decision to bring the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps project to end stems from fears of violence among some of the organizations more radical members.

In an email sent out on March 16th, Mercer called on members to come “locked, loaded and ready,” perhaps not the wisest choice of words. The email noted that it was her intention to have the MCDC take a more active roll along the border by tracking illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. Previously the organization restricted its members to only reporting activity along the border to the Border Patrol.

Mercer claims the response to her email was overwhelming. They showed an anger she and the board felt could easily turn violent if just one bad apple went too far.

The announcement proves a couple of things. For starters, it shows that some groups are justified in their fears that such an organization could be co-opted by racist extremists. But more importantly, it is a clear example of the fact that the organization was not, along with the vast majority of its members, were not racist or violent because at the first sign of anything of the sort they chose to shut the entire organization down to prevent it.

I have been a long time supporter of the group, especially so when those with an agenda chose to attack a little old woman here in Kansas City because of her membership in the organization. So, I for one applaud the groups decision to fall on the sword before letting racists and extremists to co-opt their movement. I also call on other advocates like Frances Semlar and Darla Jaye to do the same.

This incident should also be a lesson to Tea Partiers. With no real organization to control things, it is the responsibility of all those involved to point out and expel any racists or extremists before they have a chance to harm the cause of liberty.

Doh! Obamacare Fails to Deliver on Child Coverage Promise

"This is a patient's bill of rights on steroids," the president said Friday at George Mason University in Virginia. "Starting this year, thousands of uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions will be able to purchase health insurance, some for the very first time. Starting this year, insurance companies will be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions."[1]

Except, Mr. President, insurance companies won’t be denied from denying coverage to kids with pre-existing conditions. Perhaps you would have been wise to adhere to your promise to put the bill up online for 5 days before signing it so people could read it. I mean, at least someone would then read it. It’s obvious that you or anyone in congress, for that matter, couldn’t be bothered to.

Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill Obama signed into law Tuesday.

Obamacare and Race Based Taxation

People wondering when provisions of President Obama’s health care reform will take affect won’t have to wait long. In July, the first of many new taxes will take affect.

In what many are calling “race based” taxation, Obamacare calls for an immediate tax of 10% to be levied on all hair weaves and Quinceanera dresses.

In reality neither of the previously mention items are being taxed. Instead the Democrat’s health care reform plan calls for a 10% tax on tanning.

While no specific tanning demographic data exists, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the tanning tax will disproportionately affect white women.

To bring about distributive change of wealth President Obama once stated he favored federal social programs like welfare and health care over direct reparations because they, “disproportionately affect people of color.”

So, is the new tanning tax a purposeful policy designed to bring about distributive change or is it just another in a long line of sin taxes?

Interestingly enough, while those who tan frequently do have a 1.5 times greater risk of getting skin cancer, a report published in American Society for Clinical Nutrition showed that those same tanners had 25% greater bone density. This means tanning may very well be the number one treatment for preventing osteoporosis. Thus, alleging the tan tax is a sin one may be opening a can of worms supporters of health care reform won’t be able to put back in the bottle.

Missouri Billboard Warns Americans to ‘Prepare for War’

Many people are fed up with the Government’s infringement on our liberties. But, few have gone as far as one anonymous Missouri businessman to show their disillusion.

His billboard can be seen on I-70 between Grain Valley and Blue Springs and presents a step-by-step guide to revolution: 1. Starve the Beast, keep your money. 2. Vote out incumbents. 3. If steps 1 & 2 fail, prepare for war.

Others have pointed out that this country is hurdling towards a point of no return. This very blog wrote:

It would not be hard for anyone to argue that the American government has drifted so far away from what the founding fathers intended that it need not be considered anything less than bordering on tyranny.

Fred Reed, technology columnist for The Washington Times, wrote on his blog:

Washington is out of control. It does as it likes, without restraint. It spends American money and American lives to fight remote wars for which it cannot provide a plausible reason. It determines what our children will be taught, who we can hire and fire, to whom we can sell our houses, whether we can defend ourselves, even what names we can call each other. The feds read our email and track the web sites we visit, make us hop around barefoot in airports at the command of surly unaccountable rentacops. They search us at random in train stations without even a pretense of probable cause. We have no influence over them, no way of resisting.

The government doesn’t work. It is broken. It can’t be fixed. It can’t be fixed because only those within it could, and their interest lies in not fixing it.

The only remedy short of armed rebellion is civil disobedience at the level of the states.

The alternative to revolt Mr. Reed is referring to is the process known as ‘nullification’. Of nullification he writes:

Washington’s power is economic. The feds rely for control on taxing money from the states and giving some of it back in exchange for obedience. They cannot arrest Wyoming, but they can deny it federal highway funds. This technique provides de facto control over everything from kindergarten to MIT.

…

[I]f Idaho passes a law (I’m making this up) saying that no restrictions on the ownership of guns will be enforced within the state, Washington might choose discretion over valor and ignore it. Legalizing marijuana, however, or refusing to accept compulsory medical care, would be a direct if not necessarily intentional challenge to the power of the central government. The feds could not afford to let either of these things slide. The danger of the precedent to the grip of the governing classes would be too great. A deadly serious confrontation would ensue.

What could, or would, the federal government do in response to defiance? Send the Marines to occupy Sacramento? Or the FBI to arrest Arnold and the legislature of California?

Or cut off California’s financial water? No bailout for the state’s tottering economy, no more fat subsidies to the universities, and so on?

…

Washington may be able to make the states back down. It may not. The peril for the feds is that it might occur to the states that, while they get their money from Washington, Washington gets its money from the states. The central government depends absolutely on the states, whereas the states would get along swimmingly without the current central government.

By withholding money, states defund the federal government. The fed would then be left with the choice of going to war with the states or to bend to the will of the people.

Nullification may be the last best hope for the American people to reassert their constitutional rights and reverse more than 150 years of over reaches by the federal government and the Supreme Court.

Pro-Life's Day of Infamy: How Republicans Missed Their Chance to Kill the Bill

Today President Obama signed his health care reform package into law, a package many in the pro-life community believe will lead to federal funding for abortions.

Obama’s health care bill required parliamentary tricks to pass, doing so only after so-called pro-life Democrats agreed to change their votes to ‘yes’ when the president agreed to issue an executive order banning federal funding for abortions. The problem with an executive order is two fold: one, it may not be constitutional as it modifies a bill that has not been fully passed under reconciliation rules, and two, there is nothing to prevent this president or any of his successors from reversing that order.

Needless to say, pro-life Americans feel betrayed and are taking that anger our on pro-life Democrats, led by Rep. Bart Stupak, who they believe caved into political pressure put on them by the progressive left. One Republican member of congress went so far as to scream out “baby killer” while Rep. Stupak was speaking on the house floor.

This day, however, is not the pro-life movement’s day of infamy. Their day of infamy came on November 7, 2009, when the House succeeded in passing their version of health care reform, an act which had a domino affect that gave momentum to the Senate, enabling them to pass their own version, and to the president and Nancy Pelosi, allowing them to force the Senate version of the bill through the House via controversial reconciliation rules.

To understand why November 7, 2009, will go down as the pro-life movement’s day of infamy, you’ll need to understand what exactly was going on in the House that day.

A group of pro-life Democrats were refusing to vote in favor of Pelosi’s health care reform bill unless it contained the amendment proposed proposed by Rep. Stupak that would ban federal funding for abortions. Nancy Pelosi at first refused to even consider this amendment, but when it became clear that there was no possible way she could pass the health care reform without it, she caved and agreed to bring it to the floor for a vote.

By agreeing to consider Stupak’s pro-life amendment Nancy Pelosi unwittingly created the one and only chance Republicans had to kill Obamacare. Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ), pro-life himself, realized that if the Stupak amendment were to fail, so too would Obamacare. So, he hatched his plan.

In the Shadegg plan Republican members of the House would vote ‘present’ on the Stupak amendment. This would accomplish two things. First, it would kill Obamacare before it even had a chance to get started. Second, by killing the bill it would also result in the continued prevention of federal funding for abortions.

[Rep. Phill Gingrey] told Weekly Standard that he considered voting present when "some of my most respected colleagues had brought up the possibility of a present vote on the Stupak vote thinking what can we do to stop this bill."[1]

Unfortunately, those in power within the pro-life movement, the ones that have the power to swing pro-life voters and donations away from candidates, were so focused on their single issue that they failed to see the genius of Rep. Shadegg’s plan. Doug Johnson of the NRLC (National Right to Life Committee) sent a letter to members of congress:

As NRLC’s congressional scorecard for the 111th Congress will clearly explain, a vote against the Stupak-Pitts Amendment can only be construed as a position-defining vote in favor of establishing a federal government program that will directly fund abortion on demand, with federal funds, and a second federal program that will provide government subsidies to private insurance plans that cover abortion on demand. NRLC regards this as the most important House roll call on federal funding of abortion since the House last voted directly on the Hyde Amendment in 1997. If you do not wish to go on record in support of creating major new federal programs that will both fund abortions directly and subsidize private abortion coverage, please vote for the Stupak-Pitts Amendment. NRLC will regard a “present” vote as equivalent to a negative vote on the Stupak-Pitts Amendment.

“NRLC will regard a ‘present’ vote as equivalent to a negative vote on the Stupak-Pitts Amendment.” With that one line the pro-life movement ensured Obamacare would pass.

"If lawmakers who claim the label of 'pro-life' now were to betray past commitments and withhold support from the amendment to remove government funding of abortion from the health care bill, by voting 'present,' resulting in the defeat of the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, it would be a day that would live in infamy," stated a letter from the NRLC to members of congress.

“Other pro-life groups informed LifeNews.com that if Republicans killed the Stupak amendment, it would take abortion funding off the table in the 2010 elections.”[2]

Republican members, already fearing primary threats from more conservative opponents, could not afford to lose the NRLC’s endorsement and the campaign funds that their endorsement brings. Like lambs being led to the slaughter, they towed the line and all voted ‘yes’ on the Stupak amendment.

Later that day, the house version of Obamacare sailed through by a vote of 220-215. The rest, as they say, is history.

With Obamacare now law, there is nothing the NRLC or other pro-life organizations can do to reverse the damage they caused on November 7, 2009, a day that will forever be remembered as Pro-Life’s Day or Infamy.

America's Rendezvous with Destiny

Yesterday President Obama and the Democrat led congress passed a nearly $1 trillion health care reform package. The reforms contained in the package will dramatically impact the health care sector, one which makes up nearly 1/6^th of the entire U.S. economy. The plan has been thoroughly rejected by the American people who have overwhelming opposed it’s passing since July 2009.

Not only did Democrats ignore the will of the people when they cast their votes for Obamacare, but they resorted to parliamentary tricks in order to pass the legislation around hurdles the founding fathers put in place to ensure the majority party in congress would not be able to run roughshod over the minority party and the American people.

“In Republics, the great danger is, that the majority may not sufficiently respect the rights of the minority.”

Now the president and congress are seriously considering an immigration reform plan that would grant immunity to the estimated 20 million illegal immigrants residing in the United States. The same illegal immigrants that are in large part responsible for the spiraling out of control costs of health care. Thus, it’s no coincidence that the administration failed to address illegal immigrant abuses of the current health care system as part of Obamacare, and instead chose to use rising health care costs as a pretext to passing the largest government takeover of private industry in history.

A new comprehensive immigration reform plan is likely to be met by the American people with just as strong of opposition as did Obamacare, and not unlike a similar plan proposed by Sen. Edward Kennedy, Sen. John McCain and the Bush administration did in 2007.

At the time, Americans were told that the single biggest threat they face is a terrorist attack on our homeland. Yet, congress did nothing to secure the country’s borders and ports.

The American people recognized that providing amnesty to illegal immigrants would not only reward those who circumvented our immigration laws, but without a strong effort to secure our border, would result in tens of millions of more illegal immigrants streaming across the border. The American people favored immigration reform, but did not and do not trust the government when it says it will secure the border after amnesty or as they put it “a path to citizenship” is approved.

The American people demanded the border be secured first and as a result, the Comprehensive Immigration Act of 2007 died on the vine. They moved quickly to pass a series of smaller bills designed to secure the border, or so they said.

One of these bills authorized the creation of a 700 mile fence along the southern border with Mexico and increased the number of border patrol agents along both borders by several thousand. Barely a year after its authorization, the fence was defunded with only 10 miles having been built. To make matters worse, not long after taking office, President Obama dramatically reduced the number of border patrol agents and National Guard along the border.

Still, the number of new illegal immigrants arriving to the U.S. each year fell, largely due to the global economic collapse brought on by the diversity recession. As companies reduced the number of jobs they had available, the primary incentive for disobeying immigration laws has been temporarily mitigated. But as the economy recovers, so will the numbers of illegal immigrants coming across the border.

To address the impending failures of banks and investment firms that got swept up into the government’s diversity mortgage scheme, both Democrats and Republicans approved giving more than a trillion dollars to businesses and other organizations that were partially responsible for the very programs that ultimately led to massive mortgage defaults and eventually a global economic recession. The American people cried out in anger, demanding these businesses be allowed to fail and demanding those in government responsible for regulating those businesses are held to account. Again, congress ignored them.

Thomas Paine once famously wrote, “Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.”

It would not be hard for anyone to argue that the American government has drifted so far away from what the founding fathers intended that it need not be considered anything less than bordering on tyranny.

The United States was founded by those few who believed that the only way to escape tyranny in their own countries was to travel across a vast ocean, brave an untamed wilderness, and start anew. The country they birthed quickly grew and became a beacon of freedom to the world that wrought governments across the globe, bringing democracy and liberty to hundreds of millions.

Today, that country, the very idea that free people are better suited to solve problems than tyrants or intellectual elites in some far off capital, is in jeopardy.

Ronald Reagan once said that, “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

Freedom now lay at the feet of this generation grasping for air. The question is will we have the courage to pick it up and breath life back in to it or will we sit back and watch as it withers and dies?

There are those in the media, both Republican and Democrat, which have done a great many things to encourage the people to make their voices heard. But, they have always stopped short of calling for revolt.

It should not go without saying that Americans should do everything possible to return America to its constitutional roots without violence. But as the custodians of liberty, entrusted to us by the millions who came before, we owe it to them to do everything necessary to protect those liberties.

The founding fathers whom declared their independence in July 1776 were men of means, men with families. Yet, they risked everything to fight for freedom against a tyrannical government.

Today, Americans must be willing to do the same. Today, Americans must be willing to nourish the tree of liberty with their blood and the blood of those who would choose to take their liberties from them.

Again, it cannot be said enough, Americans should do everything possible to negotiate in good faith and to avoid violence, but the tyrants in Washington must know that the people are willing to die for the cause, for the cause is a just one.

The Disparate Impact of Affirmative Action

The KC “red” Star’s Barb Shelly is quick to throw around claims of racism after reading a Princeton University study from 2004 that showed Asian-Americans need to score 50 points higher to gain admission to elite schools than black or white students.

As the mom of a high school senior who keeps an eye on these things, I've been noticing that students of Asian background can have absolutely stellar credentials and still be waitlisted or rejected at selective colleges.

True, the competition has never been so intense, and the college admissions process will never be completely fair. I support attempts by universities to invite students from a variety of backgrounds to their campuses. But anecdotally, it seems as though Asian kids have to clear a higher barrier than anyone else.

I checked it out, and the perception is more than anecdotal. A 2004 study by Princeton University researchers established that Asian kids need to score 50 points higher on the SAT than kids of other races to have a chance at getting admitted to the so-called elite universities.

Daniel Golden, who wrote a riveting book about the inequities in college admissions, calls Asian students "the new Jews," referring to unwritten policies before 1950 that set blatantly high bars for even the brightest Jewish applicants.

The problem, says Golden, is that college admission offices assume that Asian kids are going to be robotically drilled in the maths and sciences and lack creativity and depth. One admissions dean whom Golden interviewed referred to a rejected student from a Korean-American family as "yet another textureless math grind."

May I say first of all that this country would do well do encourage math grinds. But more pertinently here, what a stereotype. High school counselors and college admissions staffers should look at Asian-American kids as the amazing multitalented young people they are, not math or science drones.

Rather than making some racist illusions that Ms Shelly clearly has no factual evidence to support, perhaps she would be wiser to explore the hypothesis that the reason Asian-Americans have to score 50 points higher than their counterparts is because of the disparate impact of Affirmative Action quotas.

It seems plausible that the cause of Asian-Americans having to score 50 points higher is their inherently high IQ combined with the small number of admissions slots available to them.

"Around the world, the average IQ for East Asians centers around 106; for Whites, about 100; and for Blacks about 85 in the U.S. and 70 in sub-Saharan Africa"

Lets say at one of these elite ivy league schools there are 100 slots for new students this year. Of these 100 slots, due to affirmative action quotas, only 5 are available to Asian-Americans.

According to the Asian American Population Estimates report by United States Census Bureau from June 2009, Asian Americans make up approximately 5% of the U.S. population.

With a far superior average intelligence and such a small number of available admissions slots, it stands to reason that Asian-American applicants would need to score significantly higher scores than their white or black counterparts for entrance.

Once again, the social justice policy of judging people based on color, and not content, is resulting in the exact opposite affect of what was intended.

Health Care as an Unalienable Right

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

When the founding fathers declared their independence they did so in belief that England was infringing on their unalienable rights. Today, proponents of health care reform argue that health insurance is one of those unalienable rights.

Health care is a privilege attainable by the wealthy, a benefit provided solely at the discretion of an employer, a government subsidized insurance plan for the elderly or a charitable gift provided based on the goodwill of others.

The Founding Fathers declared that we are "endowed with unalienable rights, among them are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” There is no question that in order to have life we must have health. Yet there has been only limited constitutional language specific to this right.[1]

Forget for a moment the argument about whether the government paying for the health care of its citizens is a right or not and imagine what such a right would look like if, by amendment, it be added to the Constitution’s Bill of Rights.

Proponents of Obamacare and health care as a right believe it would read something like this… In fact Rep. Jesse Jackson, jr. proposed this very amendment:

All persons shall enjoy the right to health care of equal high quality. The Congress shall have power to enforce and implement this article by appropriate legislation.[2]

If you are astute enough you should immediately notice something different in this amendment from all others listed in the constitution…

The Jackson, Jr. amendment grants the right of health care upon the citizen from their government. No other amendment or right enumerated in the U.S. Constitution grants rights of any kind to its citizens.

Here are a few amendments with which to compare the previously proposed amendment:

1st Amendment - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

2nd Amendment - A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

13th Amendment - Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

15th Amendment - The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Are you starting to get the idea?

The Constitution does not grant rights to U.S. citizens, unalienable, civil, human or otherwise. The Constitution simply restricts the government’s ability to infringe upon its citizens rights.

Given this, what would a true health care amendment look like, one that truly protects Americans’ right to health care? Perhaps, something like this:

The right of the citizens of the United States to secure health care shall not be denied by the United States.

This amendment does not grant upon them health care, it reaffirms their right to obtain it. It does not require the government to provide health care, it restricts it from denying a citizens right to obtain it. A right, one can argue is in line with the right of the people, endowed upon them by their creator, to pursue happiness.

The distinction is significant between these two examples. In the first proposed amendment, proponents of Obamacare seek to empower the federal government with a power it has never had, that of granting rights upon its citizens. This stands in stark contrast to a truth the framers of the Constitution understood, that rights are endowed upon man at birth, not by government, but by natural law.

The very idea of health care as a right bestowed upon its citizens by the government is also dangerous. If a government grants the right, it must also have the ability to say how that right is bestowed.

As we have already seen, Medicare is the leading denier of health care benefits claims and was the case in one incident involving Oregon’s state health care system, a cancer patient was denied chemotherapy and offered assisted suicide as an alternative.

Looking at health care as a right, in the same manner the framers might have considered it, sheds light on the issue. It reveals that allowing the federal government to grant rights upon its citizens, regardless of any social benefit it might claim to bring about, is hazardous to a free people.

Hawaii Considering Law to Produce Obama Vault Birth Certificate

The Hawaii State House Judiciary Committee heard a bill Tuesday that would permit the government to release the vault copy of President Obama’s certified birth certificate… at least, that’s the what they should have heard. Instead, they heard a bill that would permit the government to ignore requests from concerned citizens for copies of the controversial document, according to the Associated Press.

"Do we really want to be known internationally as the Legislature that blocked any inquiries into where President Obama was born?" asked Rep. Cynthia Thielen, R-Kaneohe-Kailua. "When people want to get more information, the way to fuel that fire is to say, 'We're now going to draw down a veil of secrecy.'"

The AP story claims that Hawaii’s Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino released statements last year that she’s, “seen vital records that prove Obama is a natural-born American citizen.” This statement is quite simply false.

The AP’s own previous reporting on the story from October 2008, shows Ms Fukino only verified that the birth certificate is on file, nothing more and something which was not in dispute. In fact, we know Dr. Fukino did not actually see Obama's birth certificate, because, as she stated at the time, "[Hawaii] law bars release of a certified birth certificate to ANYONE who does not have a tangible interest."

So once again concerned citizens are left to wonder why. Why won’t Obama just authorize the release of the vault copy of his birth certificate? Why have federal courts ruled citizens have no standing to enforce provisions of the constitution? Why have federal courts claimed they also lack the authority to enforce provisions of the constitution? And now, why would the Hawaii legislature make a law to authorize the ignoring of document requests from citizens when they could just as easily pass a law to authorize the release of those documents, an act which would not only reduce the number of requests, but would bring the entire controversy to an end?

Gen. Petraeus: Growing Perception Among Arab Leaders that the U.S. was Incapable of Standing up to Israel

Conservative radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, along with pro-war politicians, like John McCain, Joe Lieberman, and Eric Cantor were quick to jump on Vice President Biden’s comments to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the surprise announcement of 1,600 new settlements in the West Bank.

“This is starting to get dangerous for us… What you're doing here undermines the security of our troops who are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. That endangers us and it endangers regional peace.” Biden reportedly told Netanyahu.

"The vice president told his Israeli hosts that since many people in the Muslim world perceived a connection between Israel's actions and US policy, any decision about construction that undermines Palestinian rights in East Jerusalem could have an impact on the personal safety of American troops fighting against Islamic terrorism."[1]

Rush Limbaugh railed against the VP, “you've got Biden, running around snubbing Netanyahu, plugging for the Palestinians, who are not allies. The Israelis are our longtime allies.”

Sean Hannity joined the fray, “During Vice President Biden's visit to the region last week, Israel announced its plans to build 1,600 homes in East Jerusalem. The Obama's administration's diplomatic response was to lash out at our only democratic ally in the Middle East.”

Senator Lieberman called the rhetoric, “very troubling” and “destructive of our shared national interest.” He went on to allege, of Biden’s statement, that “it just doesn't serve anybody's interests but our enemies.”

Eric Cantor, the number two Republican in the House and rising GOP star, claimed the government's criticism of Israel threatened US national security and said, “to say that I am deeply concerned with the irresponsible comments that the White House, vice president and the secretary of state have made against Israel is an understatement.”

Unfortunately for them, and our troops on the ground, the opposite is true, according to General Petraeus.

There [is] a growing perception among Arab leaders that the U.S. [is] incapable of standing up to Israel.”

In fact, General Petraeus was so concerned with Israeli actions in the West Bank that he sent a team of senior military officials from CENTCOM to the Pentagon to brief Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Michael Mullen on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“CENTCOM's mostly Arab constituency [is] losing faith in American promises, that Israeli intransigence on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was jeopardizing U.S. standing in the region.”

In case you didn’t catch that, Gen. Petreaus, the “most popular and trusted architect” of the surge in Iraq, is saying that Israeli action is endangering the lives of U.S. troops.

You might then be wondering why the very same people that lauded Gen. Petreaus’s surge strategy are now unwilling to defer to his proven judgment. Perhaps this statement released over the weekend by AIPAC, The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, might shed some light.

The Obama Administration's recent statements regarding the U.S. relationship with Israel are a matter of serious concern.

AIPAC has long been criticized for being “the most powerful and best known component of a larger pro-Israel lobby that distorts American foreign policy.”[2]

MO House Seeks To Block Health Insurance Mandate

Today, Missouri House members, fearing the inevitability of Obamacare, approved a state constitutional amendment that would exempt the state from the federal mandate that would require citizens to purchase health insurance.

It passed by a vote of 109-46, according to KMBC News. It now moves to the MO Senate, where it is expected to pass.

After the Senate passes the measure it will be placed on the next ballot or put up for special election by the governor, at which point the Missouri voters will have their say.

A similar measure passed the Kansas House on Moday. The Kansas State Sovereignty Resolution, a non-binding resolution re-iterating Kansas 10th Amendment rights, passed by a vote of 109-11.

They also sit poised to be the primary beneficiaries of a new ordinance that would create a department in city government to oversee its capital improvement projects.[1]

With the Astroturf “stop the nonsense” movement, KC politcos appear to be killing two birds with one stone. They are launching a pre-emptive attack on Mayor Mark Funkhouser’s re-election campaign and putting back in place a mechanism to help enable them to continue looting the city’s treasury.

Kansas' Tax and Spend Republicans

The state of Kansas is facing a budget shortfall of $467 million. Thankfully, Republicans control both state houses, so Kansans can look forward to a slew of conservative budget cuts to help get the state living back within its means… or not!

In the past week or so, Kansas Republicans have proposed a slew of new taxes.

There’s the soda tax, proposed by Senate Vice President John Vratil, a Leawood Republican. The tax would add 10 cents to the cost of a can of soda, or a $1.20 to 12-pack.

There’s the tobacco tax increases, proposed by Senate Taxation Committee Chairman Les Donovan, a Wichita Republican. The tax would add 55 cents to the cost of a pack of cigarettes.

There’s the alcohol tax increases, sponsored by Rep. Kay Wolf, a Prairie Village Republican. Although temporarily tabled, the proposal would add several cents to the cost of beer, wine and spirits.

There’s the state sales tax increase, also proposed by the chair of the Senate Tax Committee, Senator Les Donovan, a Wichita Republican. The tax would raise the state’s sales tax by 1%, an increase that in a moment you will find will have a dramatic affect on another proposed tax increase.

There’s the proposal before the Senate Transportation committee that would, for the first time ever, make gasoline subject to sales tax, a sales tax members hope will also be raised by one percent simultaneously. The proposal will increase the cost of gas by an estimated 17 cents per gallon, raising an estimated $300 million in 2011 alone.

Accompanying the gas sales tax proposal, is another one to increase the state’s motor fuel tax by 4 cents. It would also allow the state to automatically increase the motor fuel tax based on the consumer rate of inflation each year. This distinct and separate proposal is estimated to raise an additional $300 million annually.

The two gas tax increase proposals alone are enough to overcome Kansas budget gap. So, why all the other proposed increases? One only needs to look at what is being taxed to find out.

Soda, cigarettes, alcohol, gasoline… all are considered socially unacceptable by progressives and thusly taxes on them have been labeled “sin taxes”.

Kansas is supposed to a bastion of conservatism. Yet, all these tax proposals are coming not from California liberals but from so-called Conservatives in a state about which progressives have previously pondered, “What’s the Matter with Kansas?”

Bachmann: They Have Just Started a Revolution

Speaking at a rally in Minnesota on Saturday, Rep. Michele Bachmann called on American’s to disobey the mandate to purchase healthcare and to pay any taxes or penalties as is called for in the Obamacare legislation should it be enacted into law in violation of Article I, Section 7.

"They have just started a revolution -- and they did it. But mark my words, the American people aren't gonna take this lying down. We aren't gonna play their game, we're not gonna pay their taxes. They want us to pay for this? Because we don't have to. We don't have to. We don't have to follow a bill that isn't law. That's not the American way, and that's not what we're going to do.

If they pass the bill legitimately, then yes, we have to follow the law -- until we repeal it. But if they pass it illegitimately, then the bill is illegitimate, and we don't have to lay down for this. It's not difficult to figure out. So if for some reason they're able to get their votes this week and pass this 2,700-page Senate bill -- if they get it, trillions of dollars is what it's gonna cost, when we didn't vote on it, we need to tell them a message: That if they get away with this, they will be able to get away with anything -- with anything. And you can't say you voted on a bill when you didn't, because it's fraud. But we are not helpless here. We are not helpless, there are things that we can do."

Some are calling Rep. Bachmann’s remarks a call for civil disobedience, a first for elected officials opposing Obamacare. However, based on understanding of John Locke’s philosophy on the rights of citizens to protect themselves from tyranny, Rep. Bachmann seems to be suggesting far more than just civil disobedience as evidenced by this portion of her statement, “They have just started a revolution…”

It's one-party rule now in Washington, D.C. Their Chicago tactics, their Chicago friends, twisting Democrats' arms, threatening their own team members with ethics charges and a submission. This handful of people thinks they can enforce their will on 300 million Americans? They're not gonna do that. This is dictatorial, what they are doing.

Swing Districts Oppose Health Reform

A new study by Independent Women's Voice, to be released later today, clearly shows voters in key swing-state districts oppose the Democrat proposed Obamacare reform plan.

The survey shows astonishing intensity and sharp opposition to reform, far more than national polls reflect. For 82% of those surveyed, the heath-care bill is either the top or one of the top three issues for deciding whom to support for Congress next November. (That number goes to 88% among independent women.) Sixty percent want Congress to start from scratch on a bipartisan health-care reform proposal or stop working on it this year. Majorities say the legislation will make them and their loved ones (53%), the economy (54%) and the U.S. health-care system (55%) worse off—quite the trifecta.

Seven in 10 would vote against a House member who votes for the Senate health-care bill with its special interest provisions. That includes 45% of self-identified Democrats, 72% of independents and 88% of Republicans. Three in four disagree that the federal government should mandate that everyone buy a government-approved insurance plan (64% strongly so), and 81% say any reform should focus first on reducing costs. Three quarters agree that Americans have the right to choose not to participate in any health-care system or plan without a penalty or fine.

The study focused on 35 swing districts, 20 of which previously voted ‘yes’ on the bill and 15 that voted ‘no’ but are under tremendous pressure from Nancy Pelosi to change their votes.

The studies findings are extremely important because according to the study, “sixty percent of the voters surveyed will vote for a candidate who opposes the current legislation and wants to start over.” This stat stands in stark contrast to what Democrats who favor the bill, both in Washington and in the mainstream media, have been claiming.

They say that the damage to their careers caused by Obamacare has already been done and that they would come out slightly ahead by passing the bill versus scrapping it and putting together something more inline with public demand. But, that is just not the case.

A congressman can buy himself a little grace if he had previously voted for health-care reform but now votes against it. Forty-nine percent of voters will feel more supportive of that member if he does so, 40% less supportive. More dramatically, 58% of voters say they will be more supportive of their congressman's re-election if he votes against the bill a second time. However, for those members who voted against it in November and vote yes this time, 61% of voters say they will be less likely to support their re-election.

It’s not too late to stop Obamacare. If you live in one of these 35 districts you need to get on the phone, send emails and faxes, tell your friends to do the same, and make your member of congress aware of this study.

Pelosi Calls for Unconstitutional Maneuver to Pass Obamacare

Monday, in a phone interview with progressive leaders, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi indicated she intends to move forward with an unconstitutional maneuver that would allow the House to deem the Senate Obamacare bill passed in House without actually voting on the bill.

According to Article I, section 7 of the United States Constitution a bill must be passed by both the House and Senate before it can become law.

But, in the maneuver aptly named, “Slaughter Rule”, members will simply vote on a rule that says the Senate version of the bill passed the House even though it didn’t and not one single vote was ever cast. This allows them to then move forward with their unprecedented plan to use reconciliation to pass a bill the overwhelming majority of Americans do not want.

To further complicate matters, the bill grants the federal government authorities it constitutionally lacks to force its citizens to take of their property (money in this case) and purchase with it a service such as health insurance.

If the President and Congress resort to the Slaughter Rule to pass healthcare reform, it can be considered nothing short of an act of tyranny upon the people.

In Second Treatise of Civil Government political philosopher John Locke wrote that one’s political obligation is based solely on tacit consent, meaning as long as the government protects property, life, liberty and estate. If the government fails to do so, then it is the right of its citizens to resist.

It was Locke’s belief that the tyrannical act of infringing on the rights of its citizens is to be considered nothing short of an act of war upon the people. Therefore, the people’s right to self-defense takes over and justifies rebellion.

In the Federalist Papers Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson adopted Locke’s justification for their own rebellion against England.

Our nation now stands at the precipice. Let us pray that our representatives in Washington are smart and brave enough to reverse course. For if they do not, rebellion may be the only recourse we have left.

Libertarian Group Forces ACORN Out of Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The community organizing group ACORN has agreed to permanently give up its business license in Ohio, under a settlement with a libertarian organization.

The 1851 Center for Constitutional Law had filed a lawsuit against the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, ACORN's full name. The suit alleged that ACORN's voter registration drives amounted to organized crime because the group turned in a pattern of fraudulent forms.

Attorney Maurice Thompson with the 1815 Center calls the settlement mostly confidential but says it calls for ACORN to cease operating in Ohio by June 1.

ACORN attorney Alphonse Gerhardstein says the group denies any wrongdoing in Ohio. He says ACORN has already pulled out of the state for reasons unrelated to the lawsuit.[1]

Democrat’s First Major Move to Create Jobs Resulted in 500,000 Lost Jobs

According to Casey B. Mulligan, University of Chicago professor of economics, the minimum wage increase passed by Democrats last year resulted in 500,000 fewer part-time jobs.

Two months ago, I noted how national, seasonally adjusted part-time employment increased almost 2.5 million during this recession, but then it peaked in July 2009 and headed sharply downward. I thought that it was no coincidence that the federal minimum hourly wage was raised, on July 24, 2009, from $6.55 to $7.25 — especially since the inflation-adjusted federal minimum wage had already gotten pretty high.

I estimated that part-time employment would have been about 500,000 greater in the last couple of months of the year if it hadn’t been for that last increase in the federal minimum. Many of us view 500,000 job losses as a lot because they would, for example, make a sizable dent in the jobs that the White House claimed last year that it would create with its $787 billion stimulus law.

With all the evidence mounting against Democrat job proposals, one can’t help but wonder if they aren’t purposefully and systematically damaging America’s economy.

First, let me congratulate Dr. John Covington, Superintendent of the Kansas City, Missouri School District, and the five members of the KCMO School Board who had the courage to step up and do what’s right for Kansas City children. Second, let me be the first to apologize to Dr. Covington for the job he is about to lose.

You see, the KCMO School District is notorious for axing any administrator that tries to break the status quo. In a district where there exists one administrator to every seven students, there is just simply too much money involved for the KC political machine to just stand by and let his “Right-sizing” plan move forward.

Sharon Sanders Brooks, one of the Jan Marcason Nine, immediately took to the stage after Covington’s “right-sizing” plan passed.

“Continuing the blighting of the urban core,” she said, “is scandalous and shameful.”

Considering Ms Sanders Brooks is greatly responsible for the blight in the urban core she now champions, one can’t help but wonder if this is a case misdirected anger that is more properly placed squarely on her own shoulders.

The sad truth is that the City Council has done such a piss poor job of running this city and the KCMO School Board has mismanaged the education of Kansas City youth for so long that the city’s student population is at levels not seen since 1889.

Meanwhile, the district has more administrators per student and fewer students per school than any time in history. Facing more than $50 million in budget shortfalls, the district has no choice but to cut costs and consolidate schools.

Unfortunately, the power brokers that control this city will never let Dr. Covington’s plan come to fruition. The Doomsday Clock on Dr. Covington’s job is ticking and the only ones who will suffer will be the children.

Claim Denied! Inside the Numbers of Insurance Claim Denials

If you were to stop a Democrat politician on the street or at a town hall (if you can actually get them to attend one) and ask them why they are supporting Obamacare, you are less likely to get facts than you are a sad story about some poor American who had their health care claim denied by one of the evil insurance companies that prey on the sick and feeble.

Even we here at theKansasCitian have told you similar stories. Such as the one about Barbara Wagner, a terminal cancer patient who filed to have her chemo therapy covered but was denied by her insurer. To add insult to injury, not only did the insurer deny her claim, but they told her they would cover the costs of assisted suicide.

No, her insurer wasn’t Humana. It wasn’t Blue Cross Blue Shield. And it wasn’t Cigna. In fact, it wasn’t a private health insurer at all. It was Oregon’s government run health care plan.

Ms Wagner’s not alone. According to a 2008 AMA (American medical Association) report, Medicare denied more patient claims than all other private insurers.

Let me say that again. MEDICARE DENIED MORE CLAIMS THAN ALL OTHER PRIVATE INSURERS.

In 2009, Medicare didn’t prove much better, topping all other private insurers but one in percentage of claims denied.

In case you were wondering, Barbara Wagner eventually died from her cancer and Oregon never did kick in for her chemo.

So, while Democrats are quick to spin tales of insurance woes, the fact remains that government run healthcare, like everything the government runs, is inefficient, expensive, and just might get you killed.

SENATE WARNS EMPLOYEES TO AVOID THE DRUDGE REPORT

Just as the healthcare drama in the capitol reaches a grand finale, congressional officials are warning employees to avoid the DRUDGE REPORT!

The Senate's Committee on Environment and Public Works issued an urgent email late Monday claiming the DRUDGE REPORT is 'responsible for the many viruses popping up throughout the Senate.'

The committee ordered hill staff: 'Try to avoid' the DRUDGE REPORT 'for now'.

On Monday DRUDGE served over 29 million pages with NOT ONE email complaint received about 'pop ups', or the site serving 'viruses'.

The site was seen 149,967 times since March 1st from users at senate.gov and 244,347 times at house.gov. [10,825 visits from the White House, eop.gov]

The Systems Administrator may want to continue taking her antibiotic until the prescription runs out.

Funny how there has been zero threat reports about drudgereport.com. In fact, according to Google’s free safebrowsing tool, “[drudgereport.com] has not hosted malicious software over the past 90 days.”

Smells like a lawsuit is brewing… and necessarily so, because these libelous accusations concern freedom of speech and suppression of the opposition voice.

Obama Now Selling Judgeships for Health Care Votes?

That appears to be the case according to The Weekly Standard.

Tonight, Barack Obama will host ten House Democrats who voted against the health care bill in November at the White House; he's obviously trying to persuade them to switch their votes to yes. One of the ten is Jim Matheson of Utah. The White House just sent out a press release announcing that today President Obama nominated Matheson's brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Congressmen Matheson has opposed Obamacare from the beginning. He voted against it in Energy and Commerce Committee, he voted against it on the House floor. But now, just days before it was announced that President Obama has appointed Congressmen Matheson’s brother to a life long judgeship, Matheson is “undecided” on how he will vote on the reconciled health care bill.

This isn’t the first time the Obama administration has been accused of felony ethics violations.

Just last week we told you about accusations made by Democrat U.S. Representative Joe Sestak, who stated that the Obama White House offered him a “high-ranking” government appointment if he would drop out of his Senate primary race in Pennsylvania.

On another occasion, the Denver Post reported that Andrew Romanoff, another Democrat, was offered a high level appointment in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) if he would drop out of his Colorado Senate primary bid.

Rep. Bachmann (R-MN) appears to be the first to call for a full investigation into the allegations:

A big question that has to be addressed right now… is what in the world is going on in the White House? Because today, the president offered a judgeship to the brother of a member of Congress. Tonight, the president has that same member of Congress at the White House pressuring him to change his vote on health care. We really need to have an independent investigation into this matter. Because we've seen the Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase, the union loophole and now the big question is, is the White House trading health care votes for judgeships? This is a pretty serious issue...

The White House and Rep. Matheson were quick to dismiss the charges as “absurd” and “patently ridiculous”.

We guess we’ll have to wait to find out what the truth is when Rep. Matheson casts his vote. If he votes yes, based on his prior objections to the bill, one can only be left to infer that a deal had indeed been struck to trade a federal judgeship for a health care vote.

Late last week, Marvin Kleeb, former Johnson County Republican Party treasurer, crossed the aisle to join with other Kansas we-know-better-than-you Democrat and Republican politicans to pass a state-wide smoking ban.

Many Kansas cities have already enacted ordinance banning the completely legal act of smoking under the guise that bans improve health standards. Proponents of bans quickly jumped on on the news of a recent study by Dr. David Meyers of KU Medical Center which appeared to show a 17% reduction in heart attacks in cities with smoking bans in order to push for a state-wide ban.

However, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology soon issued a retraction after the mass publicization of the study. It seems that the data was skewed because of of an incorrect value carelessly entered into a single field. The result of correcting the data lowered the reported reduction in heart attack rates from 17% to 8%, a virtually identical rate of reduction to those cities with no smoking ban at all. The retraction went unreported by those same mass media conglomerates that trumpeted the original findings.

Another study by the European Journal of Epidemiology found absolutely no link with heart attacks and smoking bans.

Meanwhile, a new study is being circulated among leftwing media outlets that says Kansas would stand to benefit, to the tune of $74.7 million a year, if they were to enact a tax increase on cigarettes.

So on one hand Kansas politicians are telling you that you are too dumb not to protect yourself by not smoking or going to place that cater to smokers and they therefore have to ban the use of cigarettes, but on the other hand they would like that extra money from a new tax increase on cigarettes so it appears they are okay with going ahead smoking as long as they don’t have to see it.

Everyone knows that once a tax is enacted it never goes away. And the result of raising taxes on cigarettes will give the state government new source of revenue that they will quickly spend and be unwilling to do without. While they are actively trying to eliminate the use of smoking through bans, the consequence of which will be to also eliminate the new source of income they’be become addicted to, which will ultimately result in increases of taxes to compensate.

If Kansas do-gooder politicians truly believed that smoking was that bad for your health and that only banning smoking would get you to quit, the only correct course of action would be an outright ban on tobacco sales in the state of Kansas. But then if they did that, they would lose out on the tobacco tax gravy train they are trying to use to fill all the budget holes in the sinking ship they call the Kansas government.

Prime Buzz thinks Stephene Moore, a.k.a. Mrs. Dennis Moore, may soon announce her candidacy for Kansas 3rd congressional district.

Retiring Democratic Congressman Dennis Moore threw out two words Saturday that give his party renewed hope of holding onto the 3rd District seat.
"Stay tuned."
Moore uttered those words today in Topeka at the party's annual Washington Days gathering. They were directed at the potential prospects of his wife, Stephene, who is apparently considering a run to succeed her husband.

In the words of old G.W., “Bring it on!”

UPDATE: 4:33 PM cst - It would seem Stephene's impending run is becoming more and more of a reality. She has already taken down her Facebook profile in an effort to bury anything that her challengers might use against her.

White House Accused of Federal Crime in Specter, Bennet Races

The White House today is deflecting charges that it attempted to use bribery in an effort to convince two fellow Democrats to drop out of their respective Senatorial campaigns.

U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak alleged last Friday that the Obama administration offered him a “high-ranking” government appointment in exchange for dropping his campaign against Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter.

Although the Obama administration has denied the allegations, Rep. Sestak contends his claims are accurate.[1]

This is the second time the Obama White House has been the target of bribery allegations. In September, 2009, Andrew Romanoff was reportedly offered a high-ranking position at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) by Obama’s deputy chief of staff, Jim Messina to drop out of his campaign against Sen. Michael Bennett.[2]

Both Romanoff and the White House refused to comment.

What’s being missed in these reports, and what the American Spectator was quick to point out, is that offering political appointments in exchange for anything of value is an impeachable offense and a federal crime.

As if global warming alarmists haven’t become a big enough joke, they are now claiming January, 2010, “the hottest January ever.” This despite 30 year record lows in England and across the U.S.

Australian weather expert Professor Neville Nicholls, of Monash University in Melbourne, said yesterday: “January, according to satellite data, was the hottest January we’ve ever seen.
“Last November was the hottest November we’ve ever seen. November-January as a whole is the hottest November-January the world has seen.”

Guess we can add satellite data to the growing list of unreliable statistics being touted by global warming alarmists.

Are Democrats Driving Supporters Insane?

What’s going on with Democrats? That’s what we’ve been asking ourselves after this past weeks news stories.

First, on Friday, February 12th, news broke that a professor at the University of Alabama snapped and went on a shooting rampage, killing three. Though her exact motives are still unknown, it’s being chalked up to a moment of temporary insanity brought on by frustrations over her lack of tenure at the university.

While ABC News calls Ms Bishop a “loving wife and mother,” those close to her had a different opinion. The Harvard PhD was described by her friends as, “a far-left political extremist who was ‘obsessed’ with President Obama to the point of being off-putting”.

Then, yesterday, we receive news that Joe Stack of Austin, TX had set fire to his home, got into his private plane, and crashed it into the front of an IRS building killing himself and one other. His motives are a bit more clear as he left behind a 6 page suicide note.

Not having taken the time to analyze Mr. Stack’s manifesto, the leftist media was quick to jump on the incident trying to tie his frustrations with the federal tax system to the Tea Party movement.

The Huffington Post said of his note, “[it’s] as a broiling anti-government battle cry -- Tea Party on steroids.”

Taking a more cautionary approach, the DailyKos urged not to jump to conclusions towards Stack’s motives while insinuating in the same breath that he was a member of the Tea Party movement.

“Reading larger political motives into this action would be preliminary, until more information emerges about whether he actually has been involved in any political movement like the teabaggers. But it should inject a bit of caution into the anti-government flame-throwers on the right.”

The truth as it turns out is that Joe Stack was apparently another leftist with communist sympathies. Among cries for government healthcare and anti-corporate and Christian sentiment he writes in his manifesto:

The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.

The apparent embracing of the communist mantra, while at the same time regurgitating Henry Fairlie’s, “a man whose unique brand of conservatism frequently left him more sympathetic to the Democrats than the Republicans”[1], derogatory capitalist mantra, can only lead one to the conclusion that Joe Stack embraced leftist ideology.

So again we ask after one week and two crazy leftist snapping and murdering people, what’s going on with Democrats? Has the realization that tax and spend policies don't work pushed them over the edge? Has the realization that their Dear Leader Obama has been an inept failure caused their screws to come loose? Were they tired of waiting for that Obama money that’s never coming?

Who really knows? But one thing we do know is that Joe Stack believes, like the leftist dictators of the past, that “violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer.”

BTW, anyone remember this guy, who snapped about six months ago and murdered a pro-life demonstrator in front of a Michigan high school?

GOP Power Players Try to Unite The Republican Party

Feeling the pressures coming from the Tea Party movement, many of the power players within the GOP are signing on to a new Contract with America of sorts.

The Mount Vernon Statement is a document drafted by those facing the loss of their influence over Republicans. It’s an attempt to meld the interventionist policies of the neo-conservative movement with the traditional Republican ideals such as limited government and personal freedom, conservative ideals that have been virtually non-existent in the party for more than two decades.

While it is certainly a step in the right direction, the Mount Vernon Statement doesn’t go far enough to ensure the GOP’s commitment to a return to a Constitutional form of government. Many of the document’s signers operate so-called conservative organizations that have actively lobbied the federal government to use its constitutional-usurping power to restrict personal freedoms. Until these same people step back and admit they have been just as culpable for creating the big government mess we are in as the Democrats, there is little hope of turning around this sinking ship.
