Edgar AKA Helmet Man AKA Wahed Moharam Scares the Crap Out of KC

Wahed Moharam, AKA Helmet Man, was a staple of KC Chiefs games for years, that is until 2003 when the Chiefs revoked his season tickets because his name ended up on the terrorist watch list.  Today, when Egyptian born Wahed entered a federal building located in downtown Kansas City demanding to know why his name has been added to a no fly list, federal officials were quick to overreact.

Immediately the area surrounding the federal building was put on lock down.  Bomb sniffing dogs were sent to his vehicle and as they a prone to do, provided a false positive for explosives.  Federal officials searched his vehicle but found nothing.

Wahed is still being held, though he did manage to make a phone call to the Kansas City Star where he tried to explain the whole misunderstanding.

Wahed has been in America since 1978.  He is a US citizen and actually provided vital information that lead to the arrests in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.  If I am not mistaken, Young Country Q104 listeners may also know Wahed as Edgar from the As Seen on TV store that used to be located in the Great Mall of Olathe, or as I like to call it, the Big Ass Mall of Olathe.  Edgar appeared as a staple on Q104's morning show for some time, hence the 104 on his jersey in the photo above.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Helmet Man on several occasions.  My ears still ring from his incessant banging.
