After spending some time in jail and paying thousands in fines, organic farm owner Barry Logan decided he had not choice but to shutdown his farm. Barry's crime was allowing hippies to work his organic farm in exchange for free room and board. You see, in doing so, Barry wasn't paying payroll taxes for the employees, nor was he covering them with workers compensation insurance.
Meanwhile, hundreds of farms around Barry's continue to hire illegal immigrants to come work their fields. They pay them cash under the table and never take out workers comp for them. At the same time, and despite 18% unemployment, politicians and the media want you to believe crops are rotting in the fields because there aren't enough people to work the farms and we need to allow more illegals in.
Samuel T. Francis said it best, "anarcho-tyranny":
What we have in this country today, then, is both anarchy (the failure of the state to enforce the laws) and, at the same time, tyranny – the enforcement of laws by the state for oppressive purposes; the criminalization of the law-abiding and innocent... In a word, anarcho-tyranny.
The laws that are enforced are either those that extend or entrench the power of the state and its allies and internal elites ... or else they are the laws that directly punish those recalcitrant and "pathological" elements in society who insist on behaving according to traditional norms...
