Bloomberg - Ban Guns or the Police Should Walk

In what can only be construed as a threat, Mayor Bloomberg is suggesting police officers all across the nation go on strike until the government takes away Americans' Second Amendment rights.

“I don’t understand why police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re going to go on strike, we’re not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe,’’ he told CNN’s Piers Morgan.
“Police officers want to go home to their families. And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor piercing bullets."
Does Bloomberg think that if guns are banned criminals won't get a hold of them?  Why on Earth would a criminal, whose entire profession is based on breaking the law, bother to follow a gun ban?

A look back at the Boston police strike of 1919 might give us some idea of what would happen should the police make good on Bloomberg's threats:
"On September 9, 1919, an American nightmare came true. The entire Boston police force deserted their posts, leaving the city virtually defenseless. Women were raped on street corners, stores were looted, and pedestrians were beaten and robbed while crowds not only looked on but cheered... for two days, more than 700,000 residents of Boston's urban core were without police protection, and the mob ruled the streets."
What I don't understand is why New Yorkers haven't removed, by any means necessary, the imperialist who has seized control of their city?  Bloomberg changed the rules so that he could rule indefinitely, he's banned sugar, soda, guns, and now he wants Americans raped and beaten in the streets until gun bans are adopted all across the nation.

Men like Bloomberg are the very reason the founding fathers enshrined the right of the people to defend themselves against the government.

And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult,...

Good, that is exactly how it is supposed to be. Police should not have an easy time and be able to cut corners when it comes to proper procedure, following the law and protecting innocent civilians privacy.
