Court Draws New Kansas District Maps

As expected, Senator Tim Owens, the primary actor in holding up the legislature's redistricting effort, was successful in his efforts to gerrymander out his primary challenger.  Unless someone files to run in Kansas Senate District 8 today or Monday, Owens will be unopposed and will automatically be the GOP candidate in the fall.  Critics believe the presence of Chief Judge Kathryn Vratil, ex-wife Senator John Vratil and close personal friend of Owen's, on the three judge panel that drew the district maps played a crucial role in securing a favorable outcome for the controversial senator.

Here are the maps and lists of incumbents and open seats.
