The U.S. mainstream media has been noticeably silent on the recent discovery of a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) found yesterday buried in an Iraqi desert.
Iraqi guard discovered the weapon believed to be hidden by Saddam Hussein in 2003 just prior to the U.S. invasion.
No word yet on whether Obama and Democrats will have a side of ranch with that crow they’ll be eating.
UPDATE: 3:05pm CST: The missile discovered Thursday appears to be the Chinese made SS-N-2 Styx.
"But from the looks of the rocket, it would appear unlikely it could be deployed anywhere in 45 minutes, let alone be fired at the UK, as a certain dossier led us to believe."
Let's face it, the WMD claims were never about being able to hit the U.K. or the U.S. It was about Iraq's ability to hit Israel with one.
Could this weapon hit Israel? According to FAS.org data, it could. Is it capable of delivering a chemical warhead? It is.
However, since the weapon itself was extensively used by both Iran and Iraq throughout the Iraq/Iran war, it is no more likely the kind of WMD Bush & Blair were hunting than were the chemical warheads found several years ago.
