Iraqi Insurgents Use Off-the-Shelf Software to Hack Predator Drones

It was announced today that Iraqi insurgents have been able to intercept live video feeds from U.S. predator drones, possibly avoiding attacks. They didn't do it by hiring a crack team of black hat hackers, no they simply downloaded a shareware program online called SkyGrabber (full version available for just $25.95).

The U.S. department of defense believes they have not been able to control the drones, but said they would be encrypting all video feeds sent by the drones from now on. Which of course begs the question, why weren't they encrypted to begin with?
