Not One Democrat Senator or Member of the House has Agreed to Read the Healthcare Reform Bill

The new healthcare reform bill is weighing in at over 1017 pages and costing up to $1.5 trillion ($1,500,000,000,000.00).  As we've already heard from Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), most members of congress do not plan on spending the time necessary to read the bill before casting their vote.

Let Freedom Ring, a grassroots political organization, is circulating a petition among the 535 voting members of the House and Senate that is asking them to take a pledge to read the bill before voting, certainly not an absurd request considering healthcare represents 20% of our national economy.

Yet, as of the time of this posting, only 93 of our representatives have taken that pledge, 7 senators and 86 members of the house.  That count includes 93 Republicans and no, none, zilch, zip, nada, the big goose egg, zero Democrats.

First, they didn't read the Patriot Act, then they didn't read Obama's Stimulus, then they didn't read the Cap and Trade bill.  One has to start to wonder if our elected representatives can even read at all.

Geezus that's appalling. More appalling still is that I can't see how we could ever change the bureaucratic status quo of this country, short of a full on Revolution. Can somebody call Thomas Jefferson?
