Obama Responds to Tea Parties, Sort Of

Yesterday Obama told the press that he was, "unaware of the tea parties." But today, an essay President Obama wrote for the foreign press, re-published in just three U.S. papers, shows he was well aware of their existence.

We managed to track down the one published in the Miami Herald:
Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas.

To confront our economic crisis, we don't need a debate about whether to have a rigid, state-run economy or unbridled and unregulated capitalism... To combat lawlessness and violence, we don't need a debate about whether to blame right-wing paramilitaries or left-wing insurgents -- we need practical cooperation to expand our common security.

So in other words, America bad, shut up you protesters and let my benevolence save the world.

Sounds like more Bush 'you're either with us or against us' crap.

Why does it have to be rigidly state run economy or unregulated and unbridled capitalism.

Why can't we have commonsense regulations and leave the markets free.
