News and Opinions on Issues That Impact Kansas City and the Nation
I don't think this was very motivational, unless motivating them to not like you is your goal.Where to start....First, the American doesn't even speak Arabic. Given that we have been in their country for almost 6 years, I would think we could begin to learn their language. If I were an Iraqi and this guy was chewing me out in English and acting like he knew what was best for me and my nation, I would not take heed.Second, the American probably lives on a protected base and will go home in 12 months. For the Iraqis, this is their home and they have to stay. The American might tell them he has their back, but the truth is, he will leave one day. Third, the American tells them to kick some ass and such. I thought the Iraqis did that pretty well 6 years ago. In fact, I thought that was one of the reasons we overthrew their regime is because they kicked butt too good. Fourth, the Iraqis are in the mess they are because we came in and destroyed their infrastructure and government institutions. For the American to be bitching at them is weak. Finally, the American doesn't understand these Iraqis have their families and personal safety to consider. When the US leaves, their security and their families could be affected by how they were perceived under the occupation. I can't fault them for not putting their butts more on the line like the Soldier is demanding.
