Kansas Indians Defrauding Illegals

Apparently, even Indians (sorry 'native Americans') aren't above defrauding illegal immigrants.

It's been nearly a year since federal agents raided the Kaweah Indian Nation and arrested Grand Chief Thunderbird IV, otherwise known as Malcolm Webber, on "two counts of harboring illegal immigrants, two counts of possession of false documents with intent to defraud the United States, two counts of conspiracy with intent to defraud the United States, one count of mail fraud and one count seeking criminal forfeiture" [1]

Prosecutor contend that the afforementioned Indian tribe attempted to defraud illegal immigrants by claiming tribal membership would confer U.S. citizenship upon them. In addition, tribe members told them they would be entitled to obtain other benefits and documents.

Here's the kicker, not only would tribal membership not confer such things, but the Kaweah Indian Nation is not even a real tribe.

Mr. Webber is set to appear in court today to defend his and 11 other "tribe" members' actions.
