Este Racista?

To get their fans excited about the Olympics, Spain's national basketball team made "skwinty eyes" in a recent advertisement.

We want to hear from you. Was the gesture racist?

How could it possibly be racist? It CAN'T be racist.
1. Every kool-aid drinker knows that only white, Christian, men can be racist
-- and --
2. Only if they're in America

I almost said that since it's "Hispanic" (American Definition) doing it to Asians that it couldn't be racist because American Blacks were not involved. But I thought why go to THAT extreme...

LOL

Hispanic, according to m-w, can mean

1: of or relating to the people, speech, or culture of Spain or of Spain and Portugal

2: of, relating to, or being a person of Latin American descent living in the United States; especially : one of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin

Bottom line Spaniards are Europeans.

Having said that, I can't tell by the picture that they are actually making a "slant-eyed" gesture. To me it looks like they are pointing to the sides of their heads which implies they wish to encourage "thinking". The key to basketball is to limit the mental mistakes. Mental mistakes will kill your chances. So "think" amigos and play your game.
