China Drilling 50 Miles off U.S. Coast

American companies are banned from drilling for oil off the Florida coast, but that's not an issue for China. Cuba has awarded China drilling contracts in the gulf in the past and is working to expand the deal.

"I saw all kinds of wells with Chinese writing on them just south of the Keys," Leonard Gropper, a Marathon, Florida retiree, told the June 20 Orlando Sun-Sentinel.

"China is trying to lock up resources around the world, and they are locking up resources in our own backyard where we can't even compete and play ball," Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) told the Sun-Sentinel. "This is simply wrong. I've had enough, and I believe the American people have had enough."

At what point do Democrats feel enough pressure from their constituents to finally stop blocking votes to end these ridiculous drilling bans that keep the U.S. dependent on foreign oil?

OMG!

Larry Craig is worried about people being able to "compete and play ball" for "resources" in his "backyard".

Do you even read and think about this stuff before you post it? Or do you just download some Fox News talking points and start copying and pasting?

Hilarious!

Yes, we all know Larry Craig is gay. You sound like a homophobe if you believe his being gay discounts the fact that China is drilling off the coast of Florida while US companies can't. Mean while, we're all paying $4 per gallon to get to work. Even your illegal immigrant friends who are lucky if they get paid that an hour by the criminals who employ them.

You claim to be for Latino rights, where is your outrage of the kosher meat packing plant who was literally keep illegal immigrants as slaves. Have you seen the pictures? None of the management of that company have been charged or punished. Where is your outrage?

But a gay Senator gets you all up in arms.

Talk about a sheep.

First of all - the sheep was consenting and of age. I don't see how this is germane.

Second of all - I wonder if there's any way at all that we could work with the Cubans on this. Surely this is something that the Democrats could facilitate, I mean, they're the ones who said that we couldn't trade with Cuba aren't they?

Third of all - You make a really good point. Let's buy oil from Cuba so that we're not dependent on foreign oil. Better yet - I hear that they have camps where political prisoners are tortured and held without access to legal counsel or due process. Surely we can just invade them and liberate these people from such heinous human rights atrocities and pay for the whole thing with the fucking oil. What's that place called? It's like "Guantanamo" or "Bay of Pigs" or some shit like that...

Nice post. I suspect you were actually quite coherent before the lobotomy.

what exactly were you doing to help use less gas and oil? judging by your pic you're certainly not driving around in that hybrid.

the occ look and little hondas don't look right to me.

i think the chinese ought to drill in your backyard since you support illegals voting in your country.

Actually, I take the bus to work. Public transportation.

How did you get to work today, Jon?

in kc, the dems in city hall can't come up with any public transportation that helps the working class in the burbs so we all have to drive while in the areas where unemployment is through the roof they can catch a bus every 30 mins 24/7. (thanks cleaver & barnes!)

however, i do drive a vehicle that gets more than 35 mpg. i would love to take a bus that rolled during business hours in my area or hell even ride chastain's light-rail, but since those are both as common as dragons and unicorns, gonna have to keep dreaming of the day...

in a city where dems are practically the only party one can run for office in, why the hell doesn't kc have the classic public transpo that other dem cities have? it can't be because all the repubs are voting against it (since a republican in city hall is about as rare as a steel penny). it must be because the dems here are comfortable being unchallenged?

so thanks to the hard-working dems in my city, we're still chuggin' the gas, idling in rush hour, and helping to beautify america with every day that passes until we can continue to vote more dems in office that still won't do anything.

i'll be waiting at the bus stop a long time waiting on them dems.

or i guess i could go live in the inner-city and get assaulted like my 18-year-old son did when he moved in with relatives in the inner-city. choosing to raise a family in a crime-ridden neighborhood is probably fashionable in the elitist's world these days.

This post has had more activity on it than any in awhile and its just barely on topic guys...

xo, if you were wondering I drove my Ford Mustang to work. It uses its fair share of good ole unleaded juice, no doubt. But the stupid JO does not go to my office at any convenient times, plus I am on call and have to move around a lot. Wish I could car pool, but no one I work with lives near me, but again I have the whole mobility issue with my job.

I can say this though. My cars is carbon nuetral. I got the fancy certificate and everything. Just hope the company I bought them through is actually investing in those tree farms and methane plants like they claim. Based on the amount of swag they send me, I doubt it.
