North Kansas City Considering Smoking Ban

North Kansas City mayor Gene Burns is ready to start talking about banning smoking in NKC businesses. The city with more money than god thanks to area casino dollars considered a similar ban in 2006 but decided against it when local businesses and patrons raised concerns. Now that KC voters have approved a ban, the mayor thinks NKC residents will be more open to the idea.

Councilman Jim Martino said he also favors a comprehensive measure.

“I hope we move forward on this,” he said. “It’s a health issue. There is black and white evidence that smoking and breathing in second-hand smoke is bad for your health.”

We wonder what breathing in that funk that wafts into North Kansas City after dark does to your health.
