New Parks Board Member Must Be a Northlander

Mayor Funkhouser has yet to name a replacement for the position on the parks board that was vacated by the controversial Frances Semler. He says he's looking for someone that meets two criteria.

“It has to be someone from the Northland,” Funkhouser said.

“It has to be someone who shares my vision[.]”

His "vision", as he puts it, is to provide cost-effective city services. He cites the boards recent decision to not increase funding for the Liberty Memorial as adhering to that vision. He claims the proposed increase is enough to fund his Mayor's Night Hoops.

Oh yes, a prime example of cost-effective city services if ever we saw one. Who needs things like a working water system or crime prevention when we can have night basketball?
