City Council has No Money for Zoo, Plenty for Own Pockets

It never fails. Government has budget crisis, lays people off, cuts city services and finishes it all of by giving itself a raise. The mayor and council members will see their wages grow by 4% and municipal judges by 2%, apparently judges aren't as important as politicians, if the wage increase ordinance is approved by the council on Thursday.

You'd think that city officials, who are well aware of the down turn in the economy, city revenue shortfalls, and a dwindling population, might freeze their own wages for a year. But then again, we are talking about a city that finds no problems with taxing the income of citizens of other towns.
