Blockbuster Going After Circuit City

Blockbuster, possibly the only brick and mortar video rental business still around, has made a $1 billion cash offer for the struggling electronics chain, Circuit City. Blockbuster believes the two companies together would form a unique opportunity.
Blockbuster said the combined companies "would result in an $18 billion global retail enterprise uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growing convergence of media content and electronic devices."

You could say that. You could also say that two companies that have been getting their arses handed to them by 21st century competition think they can make their respective turds shiny by rolling them up into one big turd ball.
